I’m in a „merge conflicts are a waste” camp. I don’t need multiple parallel versions of software (unless it’s a library following semver). I need to hear a single good reason for not applying changes incrementally to main branch multiple ti

You have a short-lived local branch tracking remote main branch, not a feature branch. It works if you `pull --rebase` and never force-push (which is trivial to enforce in the origin repo). That DOES require working in very small increments

I have a friend that says "I'm not doing branches". He actually does branches, but they never live longer than say 2 hours. Maybe that's a confusing wording, but for people used to weeks or months-long feature branches,

Git does not solve the issue of accidental complexity introduced by branching. Since we are exchanging arbitrary statements: If you need branches outside the realm of libraries with multiple supported versions, you're doing something v

Lower work in progress generally results in faster & more predictable delivery. PR's are an inventory of "almost finished goods". "Stacking" PR's essentially means delaying integration and increasing WIP.

I always wonder how insanely complex, universal, abstract-thinking AND physically strong & agile biorobots, running on basically sugar and atp would be seen as „worthless” by a runaway higher intelligence. Did I mention they self-replic

That is true, 250W-rated electric engine can supposedly make 1kW for some time without damage. But if I understand correctly, EU law prohibits the "power driver" to deliver more than 250W.

250W pedal-assist only is all you can (legally) get as a bicycle in Europe. I have only one friend that can sustain 250W for hours (on a road bike), and he's a serious everyday "bicycle is the default vehicle" type. 250W is p

I would not be surprised, but it easily becomes a trap once you grow. With CRUDs / "Smart UI's" I'd always sign a contract in blood / note in ADR that we choose this to prototype quickly, but we'll stop an

I think that Eli Goldratt would not agree with you; number of connections does not determine the complexity of the system, it can be less complicated than system with smaller amount of connections. I believe these suppliers are pretty speci

We hit the 400Mhz problem as well, on corporate high-end 14" Dells. Disabling thermald did not help much, as the laptop almost melted. But we discovered a "magic" spell involving rmmod/modprobe. It sparked a kind of a cu

Feature branches introduce more complexity than real value (bold statement, right)? I really enjoy Dave Farley's videos on youtube - "Continuous Delivery" channel. A friend recently sent me this piece from Atlassian: https:&

I find post-coding, pre-merge code reviews ineffective, for a change. The code was already written. Time/money spent. Finding out that solution is subpar at this stage is costly, and delaying integration makes ineffective teams. If you

For small, integrated teams, github flow may be suboptimal. Frequent merging to master, aka trunk-based development, aka Continuous Integration is the way to go for me.

My rule of thumb is to "mostly never" subclass anything from the framework. No point in wiring all the components manually, I use the base framework installation, but organize all the namespaces to my liking (mostly modules divide
