Ha, the general strategy of archiving the Content you need to 'bootstrap' an initial display in S3 is what we do at Livefyre. For example, a Comment widget hits this when it loads on the page, which uses Varnish to do an ESI from S3, which

You say 'fun and meaningful'. I hear 'unnecessary waste of paper'. You're capitalizing on something that is actually harmful at the scope of the planet and race.

Our Chief Architect is probably the biggest contributor of code, and I can't imagine it being any other way. He definitely leads by example. Some of our customers (Enterprise) have these 'architect' types that just draw pretty vizio picture

It sounds like you'd prefer working at a smaller (<100) company.

No one should be pressured into this type of work, and it's important to always maintain that. However, if you haven't worked a 48hr+ stretch in a young startup, check your pace and/or commitment. It may be fine, just think about it.

"Paying for Google Apps expecting support is a crazy idea" Got it. You're paying for the service, not always the support. The margins on the former are much better, and thus they probably don't stress about losing those more expensive custo

We asked them to implement this feature before integrating in August, and they were very responsive and said they'd do it asap. My understanding is that it's now on their staging environments. I don't see why anyone would have integrated wi

Last I heard Jack was working 16hr days, 8 at Twitter and 8 at Square. I'm sure it was an exaggeration, but any amount of working day after day at an org gives you the leverage you need to provide vision. Twitter will be fine.

I found the title of this post really ironic. "There is now clearly an objective answer to which inductive algorithm to use"

I hate to be 'that guy', but this is why there are so many passionate advocates of federated identity systems where I can own my identity information in a single spot. The web services I use should be listening for a webhook when I change m

As always, we're hiring like mad at Livefyre (real-time social as a service). We've built a pretty badass system handling hundreds of millions of monthly pageviews, top-15 US traffic, sometimes 100k concurrent long-poll connections. Python/

You're right. That was fairly nonsenical. Not sure what I meant, perhaps I read your comment as referring to requests. Either way, long-term caching of such shims means the bandwidth to load polyfills only has to be expended once per client

I'm not sure how common this is, but our application totally has a middleware to allow simulating other methods via _method and _body querystring parameters in GET requests. I know I've seen many other companies do this. Some may scoff at t

I support this. It's kind of ridiculous to see YC company's job postings on the front page all the time. And there's no reason to conflate the cult of YC with actual hacker news.
