It's interesting to see this alongside the efforts by traditional vendors to further integrate servers and networking. Cisco AFAIK has been pretty successful getting people to buy into the UCS idea.

I think it's the intent and commitment that defines it. Someone who does not, as a rule, consume meat or animal products is vegeterian. I think that's true if they do it for one day or a thousand, and IMO it's also true if th

It's really not. At the very least, by allowing an unfamiliar person into the car I've made the trip less safe for both of us, because now my attention is split between them and the road.

To expand on this - the Bulldozer FPU is supposed to be SMT, but the integer cores are single threaded; two integer cores share an FPU, making a 'module'. This is apparently the same scheme that DEC used with one of the Alphas. It

I don't, my earlier thoughts should indicate that I have less (or none). Thinking about this more it's more likely that Nano Server won't have packages at all: the container will be the package. You'll build the image an

As long as there is no single prevalent native package format for Windows, packaging is going to suck on Windows. That's why this tool exists, but I don't think attacking a big mess with more complexity is the right approach. I ho

If you like analogies, here's one: premature optimization is the root of all evil. The last thing we need is a security researcher condensing a topic like this into bullet points for Congress. Congressional testimony is not really abou

Yes, but do you think there would be any benefit in it there being less variability? Right now a utility deals with a bunch of random stuff drawing power, presumably at different factors. I don't know what the right language is to desc

I think there are some advantages. No gas fuel, no noise, maybe less maintenance. Insurance vs. a genset should be different. I'm assuming you hook these up with a bypass switch, so you effectively have a whole home online UPS; this wo
