Yes. I'm shocked this hasn't happened already, since this seems like a textbook instance of where the unrestricted free market should correct ignorant or malicious behavior by a bad actor. </snark>

The prohibition on servers has very little to do with network bandwidth. It has a lot to do with people bandwidth - overhead associated with support, security and compliance.

It's a small thing, but their binary drivers do not support kernel modesetting, so if I want to switch between X and the console it takes several seconds with a visible screen blank. Using nouveau (or anything that supports KMS) is ver

I don't understand your comment. "Doesn't design and doesn't fab" describes every ARM licensee. Also, this chip isn't going anywhere near phones or tablets. Did you look at the specifications?

Yeah and by and large, it sucks. Until they fully decouple it from their regular cable business it's just not compelling at all. What is the point of having a nice online delivery mechanism if you're required to have the cable cha

It will be different though, and interesting to see play out. Netflix became a big deal because they provided a much better experience than the incumbent. What you're describing is not a better experience at all; It seems more likely t

As an administrator with an admittedly smaller sample size, this lines up with my experience with the Seagate 1TB Barracuda ES.2, 15K.6/15K.7-era Cheetahs and some normal consumer Barracudas as well. All of the nearline and enterprise

Reading through the mailing list thread announcing this, it's clear that Nagios was never really an open project to begin with. As far as the plugins site goes - they transferred domain ownership a couple of years ago. The plugins host

Netflix doesn't work out of the box, but does work with Pipelight and a browser user-agent override. Ease of setup approaches trivial. In my experience it's stable. The rest of your complaints are valid right now . I expect the g

The Gigabyte BRIX has an Iris Pro-equipped model if that's something you want. In my case I wanted in-box optical and tv tuner, which eliminates the NUC stuff. There are a handful of right-sized 'htpc' mini-itx cases that ena

I just did this. Unless you're targeting something really high end with a lot of 4K and gaming, 4600 is more than enough to handle typical HTPC duties. I'd certainly look at Kaveri today instead of Haswell for HTPC if I was doing

One nitpick: it is not possible to really get Iris Pro on the desktop. The 4770R (all the R chips, actually) are FCBGA and not sold retail. Maybe the big brand guys sell some desktops with Iris Pro, and I know Gigabyte has it in one of thei
