I find talking to a machine uncomfortable and embarrassing, regardless of whether they work. I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way. Why can't I just turn a dial?

My understanding is that in this approach, rather than producing a long sequence of DNA, they're making tiny sequences of address and data snippets, then assembling them with enzymes randomly. Containing addresses allows the data to be

In this case, we're talking about having an automated service (Cloudflare) manage your HTTPS, not paying a human to carry out a manual HTTPS set-up. We're talking about a self-service laundromat, not a specialist dry-cleaning serv

That's a very hypothetical question. I think the architecture of a communal website shapes its community (after all, it exists before the community). The design decisions of HN are distinct from say, Reddit: the are no subreddits, comm

To use an analogy, this is like saying your two choices are: scrub and force your clothes through a mangle at home, or take them to the laundromat to use a machine. I don't see why HTTPS can't be both simple and in-house, examples

Interestingly, the certificate Cloudflare attaches to the domain seems to contain all (or at least some subset of) the Cloudflare user's other domains in the Certificate Subject Alternative Name field. Managed to find he also owns htt

I would object to the premise of the question: > I would want to build in a way for the plane to try and save itself if possible In a combat situation, I would imagine you'd want to destroy the aircraft if you lost control of it, to

I think anyone suggesting a technical solution to such affronts on our legal rights is either naive or has contempt for the everyman. Most people are being coerced into this and aren't savvy enough to avoid it. The only real option is

The primary benefit seems to be the lower cost / mass producibility. An alternative to making launch vehicles reusable, is to make their production automated and inexpensive. This is a lot more practical when they're on the scale

I don't think that's true. When you get to smaller sizes, air resistance becomes the dominant factor. Ground based launch systems would need to impart ever greater velocities to be effective, and the launch vehicle capable of surv

You seem to only be considering the fuel saving of the higher altitude. If we're considering a ground based mass driver launch, rather than a conventional rocket-only launch, then I think there would be a substantial practicality gain
