This question sounds to me like you suspect some outright evil getting projected here. That would go too far. The wayland project tried to get the support of X developers early so that they could become a sort of "blessed" X succe

Not quite. Wayland was created in part to draw developers away from X. Seeking buy-in from Xorg developers specifically was a big part of it.

This argument is actually backwards: one of the goals of the wayland project is to draw development away from X. If wayland didn't exist, people would have worked on X11 a lot more.

Let's be clear that meddling means destroying freedom and democracy in Europe. That's the stated goal of the US at this point.

I don't understand this take. There is no real way in which a private person can make law enforcement "more expensive". The government can always find means as long as it is supported by a sufficiently big fraction of its peo

4 to 20mA signaling is only the start of a very specific rabbit hole. Someone had the brilliant idea to encode digital signals on top of the analog current loop. The result is the HART communication protocol, which is old, bloated, confusin

Not a smoker (never was), but it seems like these are emptied within a few days on average. I would consider that overly wasteful. Some countries have already enacted bans on dosposables. A EU wide ban might come soon.

I wonder how many of these bugs are actually situations where the underlying algorithms are simply confronted with situations outside their valid input domains. This can happen easily with 3d surface representations of geometries.

Not necessarily. Sometimes, the desired final shape is clear, but the path there isn't when using typical parametric modeling steps with the desire to get a clean geometry.

I personally don't trust Republican members of congress to stand up against their administration in any meaningful and coordinated way. But I would love to see that happen as the start of a restoration of a functional balance of power.

I was looking at the roles of elected politicians in this, not the general public or the police force. I think I wasn't clear about this. A constitution should have peace and prosperity for the country as one of its goals. This means t
