Are you sure you're talking about the maths subject GRE? Not the regular math section on the standard GRE?

I'm surprised that Arabic and Hebrew aren't in the same category. (disclaimer/foonote: I'm a native speaker of Arabic)

Maybe read a textbook on bioinformatics, implement a couple of non-trivial programs/algorithms, and put them on your resume?

Does anyone know of anywhere else with similar properties? I've never come across anywhere with such a huge variation of accents and dialects over a relatively small piece of land, but my experience is limited. To me (non-American), America

You're better off doing it the old fashioned way: study and practice.

Do you have to move to DC? Because it's very much the wrong place for what you're looking for.

I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but if you're really interested in tech stuff I'd suggest moving to a western country (preferably the US).

If you're looking for technical anything, Dubai Internet City is a joke. It's all sales/PR people.

A lot of credit should go to Strang for being such a great lecturer.

Do you have any proposals for how to fix this from the interview's point of view?

I want to echo gdp's advice above. What I wish someone had told me as a freshman: Grades don't really matter, no one will care about them. 1) Future employers (investors too?) will care about code you wrote outside of class, whether open so

There is something sleazy/brazen about quoting people off online discussions as on-the-record 'news'. Only serves to increase paranoia and self-censorship. Not to mention that it's lazy.

That is what I thought. But not how it is playing out when applying for jobs that put me as the worst one (from my perspective anyway). Perhaps other factors are at play.

I think you might be attributing a lot to malice. In fact I think if said European cities and NYC were built after cars were invented, they would be similar to the sprawl in e.g. California.

It's the same with everything else in life no? The large number of people who watch trashy TV, the large number of people who eat fast food, etc. Principle of least effort and all that.

Some background: on Unix, Firefox obtains seed entropy from /dev/urandom, while on Windows it calls RtlGenRandom() for some reason instead of CryptGenRandom(). This seeding material is then fed to the random number generator, a NIST SP800-9
