Well, very much yes and no to that claim. Sure, for someone who’s comfortable in the shell, the first step is lighter with curl or wget. But the next step – parsing — is a lot less obvious. And it’s all much more likely to fail on websites

Yes: I find it surprising that this isn't a more widespread approach. It's how I've taught web scraping to my PhD students for some years. https://github.com/jawj/web-scraping-for-researchers

I really liked the Ioniq 5 on a test drive, and my neighbours who lease one really like it too. The Renault Scenic e-tech (maybe not sold in US?) also has a longer range than a Model Y and for less money. It seems generally pretty nice. ht

That's probably true, but it's a quite separate problem (it's about power rather than attitudes). Also, Victoria is only about 100 years ago. I suspect power and wealth are pretty strongly hereditary over that time span in ma

It’s funny, I quite viscerally hate Cohen’s original Hallelujah, but I first encountered it as sung by Jeff Buckley, and that version I absolutely love. Otherwise I like his first album (Songs of Leonard Cohen) when I’m in the mood for some

I've never been to Center Parcs and have no plans to go, despite it looking pretty nice, because it is just eye-wateringly expensive. We can debate what 'price-gouging' means, but their prices are insanely high compared to ot

I didn’t read it that way at all. If the keyboard without arrow keys had succeeded in setting the norm that developers rely on the mouse for input, then presumably it had done its job, and it was now safe to release a keyboard with arrow ke

Yes, Crowdstrike is yet another opportunity to feel vindicated that (when I was a CTO) I made sure our information security policies mandated people to use only the macOS/Windows built-in AV tools.

I’m somewhat sceptical about this result, and the way it’s presented. Plotting income on a log scale obscures the fundamental point here, which is that each additional dollar matters less and less as you have more and more. And even if the
