Well, to some extent that's inevitably going to be true. But we do ask some control questions, including what people have been doing. So we can see if people feel differently when they answer that they're "Sleeping, resting, relaxing" in th

Yes, I'd like to have done that, it's just a question of the time it would take to learn a new development language/framework (and the money it would take to buy an appropriate testing device).

Sadly Cloudfront still won't gzip intelligently, which for a static site means you're stuck either with excess load times or with hacky JS workarounds. If and when they sort this out I'll switch from Rackspace's Cloudfiles in an instant.

Agreed: coupled with CNAMEs (so you can map www.mydomain.com to the Cloudfront servers), this is an excitingly scalable new hosting option. But: Cloudfront still won't gzip transparently, which for a static site means you're stuck either wi

For me, it also matters a lot how difficult it is to write an app that runs well and looks good on every device, irrespective of screen size and resolution, hardware buttons, etc. Having done plenty of web design, and a little Mobile Java

I knew this, but I always find it a rather disappointing choice in the language design, as I think its capacity for inspiring bugs rather outweighs its usefulness (which extends as far as making some parentheses unnecessary). In a nutshell:

I've also found the netbook route an excellent choice. http://www.museum.zoo.cam.ac.uk/ runs beautifully on a Dell Mini 10v with Ubuntu Server.

Thanks. Obviously I've fixed the original problems now, but if I get a chance to try to recreate them I'll be in touch. I should have mentioned that's the other thing to love about CoffeeScript: insanely responsive support!

A free bumper is my least preferred resolution. It essentially says you can't have the phone you thought you were buying. Instead, you have to choose: faulty or ugly.

I'm otherwise mainly a Rubyist, but I have to say that on the whole I really like the verbosity of Cocoa, because I find it's generally the right sort of verbosity: it's there to clearly and unambiguously describe what's going on. The s

A half-price pre-order deal on the full (not upgrade) version runs in the UK until 9 August. But, somewhat infuriatingly, the Windows 7 EULA isn't yet available ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/eula.aspx ), so I'm left wondering
