Agreed on the appeal of sticking to SQL. I’ve written an alternative non-ORM for Node and TypeScript (which doesn’t separate out your queries): https://jawj.github.io/zapatos/

You see all this with Ocado in the UK, right? Distribution centres only, so great range, and a brilliant app … but as I understand it they make most of their money selling tech to other retailers.

it is probably a step backward that submitted articles no longer get anonymized in many journals. The logic behind this was that reviewers would know, or look up, the author anyway. In effect this was giving in to corruption. I completely

I am way outside my domain here, but the key thing I didn't quite get is why, since 20%+ of the mRNA in the mRNA vaccines is truncated sequences ( https://www.bmj.com/content/372/bmj.n627 ), some of those seque

This doesn't help much, since antifeatures are rarely described as such (or even at all) in release notes. What would be more helpful would be the ability to revert to previous versions (can't speak to Android, but this is certain

Completely agree. I used to work mainly in Ruby, and I guess I miss its rich standard library, but overall TypeScript is such a joy to work with that now I use it for almost everything.

No, I also don't like it. I use LaTeX for papers, and I tend to go for Palatino. But there's also an annoyingly performative aspect to it, at least in Economics. Using a recognisable LaTeX font carries an implicit "look at me

You don’t need an ORM, but (unless you’re a total masochist) you probably want _something_ to smooth the interaction with SQL. We have a TypeScript Node.js API in production, and we wrote Zapatos to be that something: https://jaw
