This is idiotic. A ML codebase for a repo from 2017 -- like Word2Vec ( https://github.com/tmikolov/word2vec ) -- won't show up in search anymore? Guess we can all write cron jobs that commit useless crap yearly.

But then again, if your workflow is linear algebra heavy, shouldn't you be doing that on a workstation or a cluster and not your little MacBook? Given you are probably doing that over Jupyter notebooks, SSH, or some cloud IDE, then the

I totally thought this was going to be one of those static sites with a single answer in h1 fonts ("Is it snowing in San Francisco?" "No") but instead this is much more useful.

Seconded. In the SF Bay Area the “fun” (or worrisome) planes are on adsbexchange but not FlightRadar24.

This is my reading. By including a link to an outside article, they think they can lock things up to prevent a flamewar / flood of non-firsthand reviews. This seems like it will make everyone mad.

Seconded. It's very biased on mideast politics and especially Palestine/Israeli stuff, but in general they do a really great job of covering the global south and non-OECD countries. A slow news day in the US is generally not a s

To add to what's in the article: the Swiss have compulsory military service that puts almost all young men (and many young women) of hugely varying backgrounds together and forces them to work together in really hard contexts. This see

My dad's family is Swiss. Three things I've picked up visiting them: 1) various members are affiliated with different parties across the political spectrum and there's a lot of interesting, productive conversation (over wine)

A know a lot of wildlife photographers who prefer DSLRs. I shoot birds and wildlife as a hobby and I much prefer a glass viewfinder to the electronic viewfinder on mirrorless because there's still some lag, despite manufacturer claims

At this point, I've decided 75%+ of stuff is transitory and doesn't deserve the time to be filed into a hierarchical local file system, so I just leave it all in Downloads on OS X. Github, Overleaf, Google Docs, and email has all

This seems optimized for AI in the hyped sense (as shorthand for applied machine learning and data science) rather than actually preparing a student to contribute to "real" AI (see work of Josh Tenenbaum or Brenden Lake). For an u

I was once in a seminar led by one of the world's pre-eminent primate researchers who explained that, without any irony or humor, he refused to scroll when reading emails--Anything important should be immediately visible.

Adding to that: at least historically, full frame DSLRs took better low-light pictures; smaller sensors had more noise because of the density. Not sure if this is still true.
