Perhaps more interesting is the existance of https://www.bitcoinbuilder.com/ where you can trade bitcoins outside of gox for bitcoins inside at different rates.

So first gox is criticised for blaming an old bug and now they are criticised for irresponsible disclosure. Funny old world.

I think Douglas Hofstadter has kept his idea of what AI is more constant than most folks.

Good article. Bad title for wider audiences though. I expected a faux philosophy essay from a narrow minded empiricist. Instead I got an interesting article about software publication within linguistics.

The article isn't really about that. (I made a similarly pithy comment but have deleted it having read the article.)

Does anyone know how they are being funded? It is all well and good claiming they want more journalistic integrity than their old haunts, but I would like a word or two on how they can maintain impartiality and feed their families. Not tryi

This site needs a solution to bad commenters that doesn't result in discordant comments like this.

I don't think either are going to last particularly long with both microsoft and google aggressively trying to take their business.

Kind of solves a problem that doesn't exist though doesn't it? It isn't like these universities are crying about bandwidth costs and it isn't like demand is maxing out their upstream.

This quip really annoys me. It only seems true because of a confusion or blurring of two very distinct concepts. There is tested treatment, which has been tested and come out effective. This can be put in dichotomy with untested or failed t

We are so far from a distribution that even a Rawls based system would support that it seems pretty crass to even talk about it in my mind.

You seem to have completely missed the point of the scale described by strlen which is that people have different definitions of fairness and continued to argue that yours is the only one.

I think it is an important piece of information that it was the elitism that hurt its chances. Your wording misses that out.

I don't think your take is particularly cynical. You seem to believe we can still stop this stuff. I think a cynic would have promoting encrypted communication as at least one of their bullet points.
