Why would you be spending your personal time trying to help a big corporation do their job? Let it rot.

The point is: if your tests just assert which methods are called on dependencies with what arguments (or something close to that), they are extremely coupled and brittle. Almost any change in the implementation will require changing such te

For majority of people work is a mean to the end. If they know they'll have to spend more time working, they'll fluff it with more not-actually-work to compensate. That's all there is to it. An extreme natural workaholic will

PSA: Companies (especially public and even more so VC funded startup's) have no principles other than profit. And they routinely hire and fool otherwise, passionate idealistic but native young people who do not understand it.

Software engineers will often get a laptop at work, sometimes need two devices at home for some reason (one Linux, one Mac or one for Windows games), make money using them (so it makes sense to buy a new one if it's faster / has a

Someone (possibly, as nothing here is certain) mined most of this worthless "NFTs". Maybe out of passion, maybe hoping to sell them to idiots, maybe just to spam Bitcoin's blockchain. That's it. That all the conclusions

The USG is currently at critically low cash levels. This actually shows that billionaires are miniscule compared to the size of the government.

I'm confused because it's never clarified, and it starts with: > According to their Redpanda vs Kafka benchmark and their Total Cost of Ownership analysis, if you have a 1 GB/s workload, you only need three i3en.6xlarge in

EDIT: Thank you for clarification. It is a fair 3 node vs 3 node benchmark. Does this benchmark compare both 3 node Kafka against 3 node Redpanda cluster? It's unclear.

I don't see a problem. A man having hundreds of kids happened before in the history, and at the scale of modern global population is very insignificant. If the guy has good genes, might be net positive for everyone.

Scale / data set size tends to expose performance issues. But that's a good problem to have. Yes, it would be great if all developers could write performant code, but let's face it - there's only so many hours in a day a

Better spent? Proton is what enables tons of Linux users play tons of otherwise Windows-only games. Plus it's not exclusive in the first place. In combination with Steam Deck it's console killer.

I doubt it makes a difference to Valve/Steam. If I have $20 to spend on games, and I don't buy a game because of bad review... then I'm going to buy something else. My guess would be that some automation somewhere went wrong
