WebAssembly will only be applicable to asm.js-style code, not JavaScript in general.

Why would HTTP2 eradicate the minifier? It seems completely orthogonal to minification.

There's nothing wrong with relying on floating point to be "exact". That is, correctly rounded. As exact as it can be.

Rust isn't a domain-specific language. I don't see why it wouldn't be a good language to implement a JS engine in, from my experience.

Because that would bias the distribution to the corners of the cube.

The VM uses registers (as opposed to e.g. a stack), but that's an implementation detail and not anything you think about when you write Lua.

NAT traversal isn't necessary when you send packets out of your network, be they TCP or UDP. That's standard operation for NATs.

I wouldn't call JavaScript type-safe by any type-theoretic definition. It allows operations that really make no sense for the types involved ([]+{} ??).

The problem is that a good, side-channel resistant implementation would always do the same amount of computation and fail at the same place. You wouldn't get any information out of your attempts.

You don't have to turn off subscript checking for simple loop iteration. As the article says, you're supposed to use .iter_mut() for this purpose where the unsafe code is isolated to library code. The passage you quoted is about s

Who said anything about hashing passwords? But this is a misconception. You don't want a primitive that is slow. You want one that gives you a lot of security margin in few cycles, then you make it slow by, for instance, iterating it m

You can also use e.g. BLAKE2 which is at least as fast as MD5, while still being cryptographically strong. Win-win.

Rust does have unsafe direct memory access and a work-in-progress port of Cap'n Proto ( https://github.com/dwrensha/capnproto-rust ).

slice/push/get/append can stand in for push/pop/shift/unshift. The immutability of the arrays is considered a feature and Javascript arrays are O(N) for the same operations.

Only if the type already defines the methods for that interface. In e.g. Rust you can define whatever interface (trait) you want for external types. No need for wrappers.

Who exactly is claiming neuronal activity forms the basis of self-hood? Sure, this might mean long-term memory doesn't need continuous neuronal activity to maintain, but I don't know anyone that thought so in the first place.

Only if they completely change how the protocol and the blockchain works so that you can somehow invalidate previously confirmed transactions. Then they need to make everyone upgrade all clients or suffer a hard fork. In the end, this would

You can't double-spend the outputs unless you get rid of the blocks they were originally spent in, i.e. rewinding and re-mining all of them.

This would require you to discard all the blocks since the transactions started happening and re-mine them with those transactions excluded. This would be completely impossible unless you dedicated most of the mining equipment to this for m
