Very true, but we are discussing phones, and without glue on my few year old Mac book air, it was less than 10 minutes as there was no glue. Again you're right, it ain't swappable, but it was surprisingly easier than I thought whe

I just filled a complaint, they have a "report this use" link. Took only a minute, whatever it takes to keep people from abusing people and collaboration, especially using the ugly DMCA hammer.

Seems like a cool project if you already know Clojure and hate the start up time, but also seems like it sidesteps one of the main benefits of Clojure which is Java interop obviously... Which Clojure has to do a fair number of handsprings t

I think you're ignoring that many people might not even read the article at all. Proving comprehension sounds incredibly hard; proving someone has at least tried would probably be a huge step in the right direction compared to the mayh

Very anecdotal but after 5 years of living in San Jose, I was very scared of police. I've never had a problem with police, but the times I did there were terrible. I was pretty appalled at their behavior and I wasn't doing anythin

I'm not against Kotlin, but seemless interoperability and the ability to have both in the same codebase simultaneously does not, in general, mean you can have a lot of your devs skip learning it. In fact, in my experience, projects tha

Tell that to the Open and guys who have been dying for wifi drivers for years. They are definitely not all open. Furthermore, not nearly as many people are running alternative OSes on their phones as they are on other types of computers.

Interesting article but I feel like the metaphor is a little shallow. There are plenty of troublesome topics in computer science that could be compared to Vietnam in the same way, it just feels a little excessive to compare those things to

Actually a really nice command-line interface with autocomplete to postgres. I'm usually rapidly dissappointed with all the GUI offerings to Postgres so this is a breath of fresh air. Defaults definitely seemed reasonable as per TFA

We're a pretty small shop, not enough time in the day to write these things usually. I'm sure Aaron would love to if we had the time.

A lot of AI apocalists are worried about the "singularity" which is the point at which an AI could program itself and become aware and have a largely negative affect on the world.

Sad to hear. Do you think he's actually going to hand-approve all the warrants? Hopefully it's still better than what the USA had with all the warrantless phone data aggregation.

How many cars do you have driving and how many bicycles? If the number of cars is greater than 47x the number of bikes, might completely flip that outcome. I just read the article about statistics errors including base rate fallacy on HN to

Nice they have a JDBC driver... makes it a lot easier to hook into. After looking at all the C++ jobs on Bloomberg's website, makes sense the schema format looks C++ish.

On Uber Pool, perhaps you lock in the price. But on the normal rides, if there is traffic etc I'm pretty sure your fee can vary quite a bit.
