Using the HN homework from earlier about multi-objective optimization... perhaps a Pareto optimal trade space of evil and dumb, to the maximum extent the two can coexist

You know, I didn't expect the Insider Trading Casinos to be quite so brazenly evil. I really thought they'd have wanted to keep a lower profile, and not appear so urgently in need of being regulated or sued out of existence. They

In Idiocracy, President Camacho recognizes that someone has scientific skills and expertise* he doesn't and puts them in charge to help his people. * even if it's just "feed plants water, not Gatorade." From that angle,

I wager the pubs prefer that security cameras were their cameras, under their control, for CCTV, which must also comply with GDPR and be signposted, not a bunch of random patrons with spy glasses?

..... are you serious? We could have been more directly helping Ukraine already if that was the admin's priority, instead of expending $165B (so far) on a bumbling losing sidequest invading Iran. What an insane proposition. This admin

Actions is one thing, that seems like a difficult, dynamic and bursty thing to host, even before the Vibe Cambrian Explosion. And _nothing_ at scale is easy... But Pages? The static sites? Down for so many hours? Oof.

Do US markets (Amazon) hold any responsibility for what shady companies and their insecure products they enable to sell here, I wonder? Does our government, for import?

And that cost was not enough? We needed more investment into hard power head cracking policing, and reduced soft power community policing?

Seems like deposing our leadership would be the best investment strategy into hard power then. Maybe DOGE could get on that.

Yes I don't really bother to call out AI images or writing, I tend to just block the domain and not look back. Maybe a few strikes if the content is otherwise substantial, but it's a very easy and reliable smell so far.
