It's 2.4% for 1KB, but it's 10% for 1TB. Also, things started to go downhill pretty early on: 1.44MB floppy disks were 1440KB where 1KB was 1024.

Note that "French Fries" is not about origin, but cut: French cut, aka Julienne. Frenched potatoes, fried.

I suspect an interpreter that "solves" the GIL problem will break tons of modules that currently only work in concurrent contexts because the GIL exists.

Threadripper has 64 lanes (except 3990x, which has 88), and I think most motherboard for it have 2 PCIe 4.0 x16 slots. EPYC has even more lanes.

I have compiled libraries from source and made them used with DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH. I haven't tried in a while but I think that doesn't work anymore without disabling SIP.

It's even more infuriating when problems you have involve system libraries. You can infer things from the available source code on opensource.apple.com, but it's not as useful as debug info. (also, the code for new versions of mac

It improves neither on mac, because debug info is in a separate .dSYM directory. Edit: stripping local symbols does save a little file size, but barely gives a mapping of addresses to symbol names, not actual debug info.

I don't know anything about the wayland API. Does this imply that windows can't have a different scaling on each screen they may overlap on? Or can a window be split across different surfaces?

Is it intrinsically fixed, or is it up to the compositor to do the right thing? (implying it may be broken in some compositors)

Duolingo barely scratches the surface, and at the same time, in many ways, hinders progress for beginners (I've seen people struggle with things they shouldn't have to struggle with). I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

It essentially works only when launching apps from the Finder or the dock (not when app A launches app B, except if it did something about it, but that's unlikely) and brings up a prompt window. The opposite of silent.

M1 Macbooks were shipped with 11.0, they're now on 11.1. Upgrading from one to the other removed Rosetta2 on mine (as well as Command Line Tools).

You can add France and Japan to the list. In France, they don't go door to door, though, it's only a check box on some tax returns forms. In Japan they do come door to door. I've never heard about "detection vans" i

I wouldn't describe the Rust processes as democracy. The team members are the ones to decide on RFCs, and they are not elected. Their "appointment" is more a meritocracy.
