2022 is a great time to join a start up. Tech compensation has plateaued at a high level. The “recession” is good for innovation. And in recent years early and extended exercise have become the norm, so equity is less of a scam. And start u

Agreed. Also there’s an in-between. I think parent’s point is worth reminding us of, because in our consumer-driven economy, there’s no economic incentive to teach people that reducing their consumption may be a reasonable and “happier” alt

Yes, and in the context of Mongo-as-a-Service, it's amazing both to the client and also the service provider (less liability).

How about a service I can pay for that blocks/mutes for me anyone that’s ever had a Clubhouse account, on all platforms?

I am also. iPhone and Slack give me the tools to suppress the noise, but still catch the signal. If I could ask for one thing, it’d be an easier way to toggle Silence Unknown Callers (which is in the anti-spam category, not quite what the a

Thanks for the reply, I’m still curious though > cycling is just usually a good way to maintain a temperature when you've got a pan and some food sitting on top of it since there's quite a bit of inertia in actually changing th

> The pundits lecture that it was caused by an acceleration of the use of software after covid It’s frustrating seeing this straw man BS come up here. Everyone (on HN as well as at large) knew it was the Fed’s historic low interest rates

Would you spell it out for us? If induction cooktops are capable of continuous control of their output, why do they cycle significantly in set temp mode? At least, I would expect them to cycle minimally for fine tuning, relying on the conti

Huh, I enjoy a muted slackbot. Are you sure it’s not just that you can’t mute slackbot when a personal at-mention is “injected” in slackbot’s message? Because yea that’s annoying af. That comes from slack app developers not understanding th

Thank you OP for answering a question I’ve been long curious about but never bothered to look into, and sharing here. I love/hate Terraform. It’s better than any other tool I’ve used for what it does, but the abundance of subtly leaky

Ah, well for what it's worth that is the reason that Cruise provided that their vehicle stopped in the travel lane in this instance. I think it's important to know what the autonomous car was thinking.

Is this mentioned in the article, or do you have inside knowledge, or are you guessing? Edit: you are correct, flutas explained in sibling comment that it was alluded to in article. Thanks you both!

We are talking about weight of vehicle and its impact on brake dust. Electric is another dimension.

Top result for “do heavier vehicles emit more brake dust?” is https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S259016212... > Heavier vehicles emit higher levels of brake and tire particles

In candor I dabbled in Go in 2016 and found the community leaders arrogant and rude. I hope the community has evolved since then to expect more from leaders, but would need to see evidence of this before touching Go voluntarily again.

Obviously there are two sides to the story, but we’ve seen horrible and deep corruption in large, respected academic institutions before, so it’s certainly plausible that this essay is substantially correct. Eg https://en.wikiped
