If you use a Mac, the Iterm2 terminal emulator has an additional protocol that supports rendering images [0]. It basically encodes the image with terminal escape sequences, and also works for animated gifs. Unfortunately, it seems to not b

I'll echo what others have said: Portability is _not always_ what you want, but when you need it, a laptop is valuable. I normally work at a desk, with my laptop plugged into my extra monitors. (I could use a docking station but I ac

Maybe SWAT can use this to validate that it's actually the right house when serving a no-knock warrant. I'm cynical enough to feel like there's no way this is good for any of their targets, though. Edit: Kolpa makes a really

Yeah. If I had forwarded Company X's mail to my house, I might be able to argue that I thought it was just a prank, and planned to contact their legal team about it (and give them the (sealed) mail). That is still probably illegal, bu

Their claim is that it's in order to listen to the conversations where a foreign person of interest is the other party. :) Don't get me wrong, I don't like the surveillance either, but domestic terrorism isn't their job.

You're right, but I think it's still important to consider. If I had a team of engineers that were from diverse cultures, but all happened to be male, I would feel that lack of (gender) diversity would still be a fair criticism.

I appreciate the "popcorn" feeling, but HN normally strives to avoid responses like this, as they don't add quality to a conversation. This is probably why you are getting downvotes.
