I have definitely had issues getting the ERD to behave in dbeaver. For someone like me, it's fine. I'll fiddle until it works. For some folks I've worked with, not so much. I usually only want this sort of thing when coll

I wish this existed when I started my project 5 years ago. I had to design a database schema for a full stack project using postgres. I was working with a scientific domain expert, and it was very helpful to have a diagram to review, so t

Small nitpick: How does this calculate the health score shown? I see a vague description in the about page, but I'm confused by the weights. For example the Guild Wars 2 API shows 95 prevent, but clicking for details shows 100 perce

Thanks for the info. Their comments on hardware treadmills are reasonable. I'm not looking to chase the latest hardware, but I was still scared off by reviews claiming web video playback performance issues. I suppose I was hopping f

I wish it was comparable. The Librem 5 is years behind flagship smartphone hardware. I want to switch, but it would be difficult to give up the stability that comes with Android. That said, maybe the Librem has improved in the last year

I've often thought this was the case. Tangentially, when I don't get enough sleep, and my executive function is impaired, I tend to drift into involuntary daydreams. The content of those daydreams trends to feel like simulations

I've noticed this as well. I think it's a pretty good analogy. That realization came after being homeschooled for a few years as a teen. In my case, this meant less opportunity to socialize. After returning to public school, m

It's a bit of a tangent, but do you have any go-to resources for learning how to use Django-ninja with HTMX? I haven't really put a lot of time into it, but HTMX seemed difficult to use with JSON APIs on first attempt. I'm

I miss this workflow sometimes. I started out as a c++ dev with a light weight vim + make workflow. I didn't really want an ide. I didn't have to configure much and I knew the libraries well enough that auto-completions didn&#x

I often feel this way l only to realize that the real cause is that the software was written before planning the architecture first. Usually caused by the rush to a minimum viable product rather than maintainability. Immutably can definite

Self assembling robotic materials feel so far away, yet so close to happening. I'm sure it will be a long time before anything like this is practical, but it seems like we could be so much more efficient with that level of reuse. I&#

We've all had "the box" at one point or another. You know, the one full of nightmare spaghetti. I may have one (or three) of those. I find its often easier to buy a new cable, rather than fight the spaghetti monster.

I'm wondering what will happen when competition finally shows up. While I'm not an expert, I'm sure cloud providers would love to stop paying high prices for hardware. CUDA seemed like the roadblock,, but that can only last

I agree. I tend to avoid flatpak, since I don't usually have the time to debug access issues. The desktop integration doesn't seem good enough to give me an allow/block dialog each time. The current situation of "is t

I don't develop offline often these days, but I do recall a recent time where my power went out for a few hours. Since I was using git on my laptop, I just shrugged and kept working. Using git allowed me to continue working in a flow

I agree with your take. This device kind of reminds me of the kiosk use case. There are times where having a single device, that does one thing well, feels better than having to search through a crowded smartphone for an app.

I've had this thought before while studying biology in college while working on legacy code as an intern. There's definitely a "designed by natural selection" feel to some old legacy systems.

I only listened a bit of the link, skipping around to get the gist, but I got this feeling. Carlin had a talent pointing out the darker sides of human existence in a way that left me feeling a bit more hopeful, and able to cope with them.

I'd be interested. Even if it's just a Linux SBC + camera module, an OS image preconfigured as an IP cam would really reduce the DIY overhead.

I was really hoping that the Pine64 PineCube cameras would gain traction in this space, but it seems like they only ever really shipped small batches of them. They'd need an enclosure/software to make them a reasonable choice. Wik
