Except you wouldn't use the blockchain to have control over their data", you'd use it for identity and verification. Facebook' #1 issue is fake news and Bot's. You can eliminate those problems entirely with a block

Isn't that the same as if you lost your SSI number? In all seriousness, I remember my parents lost my sisters SSI number well after she was born (1970's). The amount of BS the had to go through to get that back and prove they ha

This is what I was told as well. I'm 52, I have huge resume of experience at some great companies (even my own company I built), the reality is, you get 10 years in, the person thinks you're his or her "Dad"... it's

Azure is built for Windows, I hope it works well. However, I'm sorry... there's no way you're going to convince me of Windows as a "stack" is more reliable and robust, or even as scalable (in concurrent users and c

It's not C# (as a language), which is benign and a good actor in the set, it's the stack. Ever try running a Windows / IIS and SQL Server stack in the cloud -- do it only if you want to lose sleep nights and spend weekends a

When I say "take 3-6 months off", I mean from distractions of life around you. Most people working, it's not reasonable to take that much time off. What I mean is, focus for 3-6 months on something new, spend 3-4 hours a day

Agree. Especially with startups. I have to say, I'd been to a bunch of local Meetups and have bent the age curve at them. Looking around going, "wow, these could all be my kids...". And most of them are good programmers but

Excellent! Here's to gray hair Docker wearing developers! Until you've built a useful application on the stack, something that can be utilized for something , you've not spent enough valuable time to be productive on it... j

I'm 52, started writing code professionally in 1985. Started my career on 68K assembler. In the 90's I was a Windows SDK developer (then COM/ATL, etc.), In 1999 started a company but chose Linux and embraced FOSS and built a

No corporation with a good tax team pays anything more than 20% of taxes. This idea that 15% is going to really be THE thing that spurns business, well, it might work initially, but the reality is, it will just create more federal debt (th

Jeez, seems like overkill when you get that free in more modern of stacks. Move to Elixir. Pattern matching is done right and it's brilliantly designed. I understand that if you're having to maintain Java applications, but why a

Agree. Control it, regulate it, distribute it. We do this with alcohol. It doesn't prevent people from getting addicted, but it certainly prevents people from having to resort to crimes to get the product because it's illegal.

I'm still very pro-legalization because most of the epidemic is born out of legal prescription drugs, then people move to stronger illegal drugs. So here you have a legal means and illegal means working in simpatico to fuel an epidemi

In 2011 Exlixir didn't exist. More than likely they've stuck to Erlang as the incremental benefit is really on the language side only. If you're only moving to Elixir because of the language sugar, the only thing you're
