I like how Amazon has a "public list" and "private list" by default, in addition to all the custom lists you can make. Seems like the reasonable thing to do in the above case is to have a default "shopping list"

I've been looking at OSMAnd's nav settings while reading this thread, and they do indeed let you create a driving profile that includes vehicle dimensions and max speed!

In my attempts to be a "generally competent programmer", I've waffled about how much web-dev technology I should reasonably expect myself to know. I think where I've come down is: knowing CSS well -- and yes, that means

My daughter is in art school. She was considering a Wacom tablet, then did her research and bought an iPad pro instead. She seems thrilled with the choice.

Amen. I'm 43, and started putting money into Vanguard around the age of 40. I absolutely wish I'd started at the age of 30; even just a bit here and there. I have money in index funds, and a Roth IRA. I have seen overall returns o

I would like to know more about this point of view. There must be a different definition of "information" than the layman's, in order for this to make sense. Your post indicates we might not fully know, obviously, but my &quo

I also looked at the (recently-registered) domain name, which was meant to spoof FSG, but couldn't see anything meaningful from whois, etc. I actually knew the FSG editor who'd ostensibly sent the email and wrote to him: he alread

Ha! I showed up in Beijing in 2001 at the age of 22 or something, and was met with frank disbelief when I not only failed to sing along with "Yesterday Once More", but failed to recognize The Carpenters at all.

This has to be the core question of how all messaging/communications channels work. How much work is it to effectively send messages? How much work is it to effectively consume messages? I feel like this dichotomy ends up deciding so m

Is the movement really "low shower"? Every article I've ever read on the subject says " don't use soap/shampoo, but shower daily ". That's what I do, and yes I'm port sure I don't smell bad.
