The (mostly useless boilerplate “I’m basically just testing my mocks”) tests are being written by AI too these days. Which is mildly annoying as a lot of those tests are basically just noise rather than useful tools. Humans have the same p

Indeed. To many tests are just testing nothing other than mocks. That goes for my coworkers directly and for their Copilot output. They’re not useful tests, they are thing to catch actual errors, they’re maybe useful as usage documentation.

Sadly (for myself) the only compact-ish plug-in hybrid that exists in my part of the world (Australia) is the Cupra Leon. Neat car, we're genuinely considering it, but it's $80,000AUD, vs. the $50,000AUD that a top-end hybrid Coro

Playing with Sonnet 3.5 this morning with Cline, my API cost to add a decent amount of functionality to my GraphQL server cost $0.1325 and took about 5 minutes. $1.80 is a lot cheaper than my hourly rate… but I’m the one reviewing what it d

We’ll see. Having worked in this space in the past, the technical challenges are able to overcome today with no new technology: its a business sales and regulation challenge more than a tech one.

Hah we rely on Mermaid a _heap_ at work for building internal dependency graphs from `yarn info` JSON data and a super lazy depth-first graph haha. Super useful, nice to see another renderer! ts-directed-graph outputs Mermaid :) This tool s

In fact, Javascript is so complex that one of the seminal books on it was specifically "The Good Parts", cutting down the scope of it to just the parts of the language that were considered decent and useful.

Unless you're in a 2017 VW Polo, then even wired CarPlay can be weirdly flaky. Though that appears to be the ICE system itself losing the plot rather than the connection per se, but I can't be certain. It was quite surprising to c

Android allows, sure, but these systems have a chicken-and-egg problem where their sensors aren't exposed in a way that third party apps actually access to the ability they can. The YN455 has this problem today. Plus, it doesn't c

That I'm actually aware of; I was talking about the Samsung Galaxy NX and the Yongnou YN455, both of which have kind of underpowered SoCs driving the android side of it, sadly. The YN455 less so, but still.

I disagree; I think your overall point is correct, that people want high quality photos beyond what phone sensors and lenses can achieve, and they want the power of their phones software. Thing is though, most camera makers are kind of crap
