No worries, for sure the SoftwareBitBang implementation is not designed to stream digital audio or video at high speed but it is handy for many to move few bytes from sensors in a local network that can be built very quickly and at a low co

Here you can find the implementation of PJDL used by Jack Anderson to determine the maximum range: https://github.com/gioblu/PJON/tree/master/src/strategies/So... All devices listed in the comp

Yes Jack is right, another massive advantage is that with PJDL devices can arbitrarily transmit data safely, enabling new ways of building things, for example sensors and actuators can communicate directly with each other without a master i

Ciao jlgaddis Jack in Video Camera Control used PJON over PJDL which is a wired data link that needs only ground and a data cable to connect up to 255 devices, cables can be up to 2km long at the slowest baudrate (1.97kB/s - 15808Bd).

It would be cool to run one of those P2P technologies over a protocol like PJON: https://github.com/gioblu/PJON until the network infrastructure is centralized P2P is relatively useless, it would be cool to see it appl

I think the article misses that the HP 9100A was developed after HP acquired the patent of Olivetti Programma 101 and its italian r&d electronics laboratory. Programma 101 was the first personal computer ever made and the first to actua

I agree with the original poster. Here is an example of a C++ source I have written implementing the code style I feel more readable: https://github.com/gioblu/PJON/blob/master/src/PJON.h 80 columns

PJDL is a communication protocol I work on since 2010 that uses a single wire to connect up to 255 devices and can even operate using the human body as a conductor, here is the video of its operation: https://www.youtube.com/

In almost ten years of research and experiments I have developed a data-link that uses a single LED for both reception and transmission: https://github.com/gioblu/PJON/tree/master/src/strategies/

You should find a better font and work a little on the proportions. Nice to see the images, a little more polished and I would use this instead of the normal HN website.

Could PJON https://github.com/gioblu/PJON be used as one of the underlying pluggable protocols? It would be cool to be able to use the browser along with an open-hardware physical network infrastructure.

I agree that in some cases there is nothing to do and damage will be done by the strike and there could be no protection able to prevent it, specially if the equipment is directly hit. I would have corrected my previous statement but it can

Yes, in production it is suggested to use current-limiting resistors, pull-down resistors, a fuse, a zener diode or a TVS or a varistor. Using all the suggested protective circuitry in the worst case the fuse should be the only component to

Yes I did so in my setup I have used CAT5 in star configuration all inserted in wall ducts alongside power cables. I can see some AC interference induced but pull-down resistors are able to erase that completely. I have dedicated 3 wires fo

Yes the voltage is relative to ground for the logic state, the differential signaling requires a source of negative voltage and a more complex front-end, being relative to ground you just need a digital IO operating at 5v or 3.3v and a grou

Yes many users have squatted old phone wiring, here in italy in most houses it is embedded in walls, and it is present in most rooms. Being unused and obsolete it can be used for home automation with PJON :)

The protocol is really simple +5v is 1, 0v is 0. The circuit is just a single conductor and a common ground pin. If you connect a LED between the bus and ground you can visually see packets in form of light pulses.

USB is supported with the use of Serial for all arudino compatible devices. A MIDIUSB strategy would be cool, that is a nice suggestion. Thank you ;) if you need my support join out gitter chat here: https://gitter.im/gioblu
