The Guardian reported on the case yesterday [1] and last week [2] and on the 10th [3] and on the 8th [4] and on the 7th [5]. Perhaps it's less than we'd like, but it's hardly silent. [1] https://www.theguardian.com

OK, but (for example) my experience is that I only experience this as a problem with PyCharm — it literally becomes unusable; VSCode (say) is fine.

Yes, as it happens you can in PyCharm; in many other apps I use that's not the case, however. I've got used to running at full 4K but TBH sometimes I worry about eye strain.

You may change your mind if you plug your MBP into an external 4K display and try to use a scaled resolution: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JBR-526 — don't get me wrong, I love PyCharm too for all the reaso

I'm looking forward to the day when you can have multiple windows open on the same project without going through some horrible kludge. Some of us (!) have more than one monitor and would like, say, to put the debug widgetry over on _th

+1 on karabiner and BTT; if using karabiner, perhaps check out goku: it gives you a much nicer language for writing karabiner profiles than just slogging them out in pure json. https://github.com/yqrashawn/GokuRakuJoudo

Yep, and that issue has been open for FIVE YEARS. The related issue which promises a fix has "only" been open for two, however: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JBR-745

Yes. Floyd-Hoare logic is worth learning about in this sense — a formal system for imperative languages where the rules essentially say "given preconditions X and code Y, if X is true before you run Y, we guarantee Z to be true afterwa

BetterTouchTool is _excellent_ for window placement/resizing; also can be triggered externally if you want to combine it with Alfred for Karabiner Elements (though you don't have to, you can define the triggers in BTT itself).

OK, but those are only your opinions, even though you're stating them as if they're facts. Someone coming from a different culture might have a different opinion, of course.

None of which have any association with master/slave, unlike git where the convention of calling the default branch "master" comes from BitKeeper, with its master/slave repositories.

That software is broken if it doesn't allow you to configure this (just as git does).

Are you sure about that? I've seen a number of reports over the last few days that "master" in git is basically a holdover from BitKeeper which had master/slave repositories (and that in BitKeeper you use repos to "
