I don't get it, GPT-2 is (one of the few) open models from OpenAI, you can just run it locally, why would you use their API for this? https://github.com/openai/gpt-2

I'd prefer to have an option for the provider to send a genuine "invalid recipient" (554) auto-reply for addresses we mark as spam.

I was mulling the idea of building a "garbage telemetry producer" thing for Windows. It's a losing battle trying to keep up with new endpoints to block more and more often, and I imagine it's easier for folks to build an

This must be a Java joke I'm too C++ to understand. But I was actually hoping for a factory automation online game because I feel like I need to sink the next 2 - 14 days of my life into a shapez.io or mindustry or something like that.

There's no such thing as privacy-preserving telemetry. How do you retrieve the telemetry from the device? Via networking, right? BAM, that's an IP address leak which is PII. We don't need to go any further than that.

I asked a MS friend because that looked suspicious. The post was seen by 220k people but it had only 5k emoji / reaction things (3k thumbs up and 2k hearts). They did mention the post has an uncharacteristic number of negative comments

Good. But I fear this will have the opposite effect, with sites adding obfuscated self-hosted APIs (that eventually still pump data back to Google and elsewhere), but now almost impossible for ad-blocking to catch (and definitely not as sim

LOL, at some point I was taking this company serious. You are brazenly lying to everyone by saying the electronics are made in USA. Shameful!

Today will be the last day for me on Reddit (since I use it exclusively through Apollo); I mean, I may stumble upon it through Google searches on desktop every now and then, but I have no intention of installing their app on my phone. I hop

Don't want to reopen that can of worms since a lot of people were triggered by the distinction but in my case I simply don't want that functionality on my device at all (regardless of when they initially planned on using it) - the

I don't use any public cloud, so they can scan to their heart's content in their cloud for whatever they want. As long as they keep their grubby paws off the device we're all good.

These genuinely look better than modern counterparts, along with Windows 98 / Windows 2000. It's just more visually pleasing and friendlier UX. I see most comments there mention the same things. Are we just a bunch of old farts, o

Moving the actual messages is not the hard part, you could always just download them. Figuring out who all has your old email address and trying to update it everywhere is the hard part.

I think the point (which I agree with) is this doesn't benefit Microsoft at all. It benefits a VP by them being able to show some metric move from Q to Q, and get a fat bonus. They couldn't care less about the long term effect on

Greedflation absolutely is a cause of inflation; maybe you highlighted the wrong word there. It is a cause, it may not be the (only) cause.

I recommend they hire an expensive law firm to process the requests, and a few contractors, then send the bills back to the reporter (one per request). I recon if more recipients do this it'll become expensive to carpet-bomb and they&#

Are you saying you can build a modern desktop without any binary blobs? Full control of all firmware (including the CPU microcode and things like Intel ME)? What about WiFi cards? I'd say that hasn't been true for at least 20 year

I really envy folks working on backend / web stuff when I see these kind of things. Stuck building client apps on desktop and mobile, the options are slim (full VMs, slowness, etc.)
