BYD also charges ~double the price in other markets, including Mexico, compared to China. That makes it very close to a base Model 3, for much less car.

Even worse, many states are more than double charging EVs for the comparable average mileage that determines gas tax.

Working a minimum wage could buy a starter home "back then". It now can hardly pay rent, and starter homes essentially no longer exist, even if someone wanted one.

It is also the second largest consumer of them (making local production a good option). Excluding Tesla's in house production, all other battery makers of any scale are foreign companies.

I agree mostly, but you'll find that we don't want a lot of those things here, especially in chemical and raw material extraction + production. Places that used to do this in the U.S. have left major scars and real human impact. T

The panels will not rust, which is the reason to avoiding scratches on other vehicles. You can beat the hell out of it and not have to care.

Trains will not enter American suburbs, nor will most truck drivers consider biking as a valid alternative. I'm all for better transit, but it doesn't change that the trucks/SUVs keep selling and getting more polluting, and w

Also, the hood + "grill" is significantly lower. A pedestrian would bounce (although uncomfortably) instead of hit by a wall and run over like most other trucks / SUVs.

That's the point... It is the only one and affects less than 3000 vehicles. A prior physical recall affected a few hundred. For most automakers, a recall involves hundreds of thousands to millions and is almost never an OTA software up

Very few others have recalls that can be done OTA. Even if it is just software, expect an hour to days at a service center to do the update, if the techs can figure it out. For Tesla, the software recalls are nearly automatic (one click ins

A flight to Mars is currently going to require 10 tanker flights just to get enough fuel into orbit for 1 Starship trip. Containing liquid fuel for long in orbit will not be easy. This likely means they are targeting 10 flights in a day at

Prior launch landed 0.5cm away from the target location. This is equivalent to landing a 25 story building right on the foundation. Absolutely impressive accuracy and precision.

Vehicles differ greatly from consumer electronics. Batteries are usually thermally managed, way more mass to absorb the thermal changes plus charging is spread over thousands of cells, there is a reserved capacity hidden from the user... B

This comment plus the parent changed my opinion on the case. They still may have gone too far be loaning out copies, but the fight to return to physical book loaning practices is worth it. Ownership and long-term availability matter.

This is common in legal arguments. You want to make your case as airtight as possible. Keep in mind that there is tons of space per page; not a dense essay. Mathematical proofs are similar, rarely limited to a page. You want to leave little

Given the option to pay for it, or have it for free, the choice they make not to pay is a clear reason. If they did have to pay, it could definitely be advantageous to pay employees not to leave, on a selective basis.

It is easy if you don't read any of the 500 pages and are simply incentivized (directly or not) and want to block the elimination of non-competes.

The argument was specifically a lack of evidence for a sweeping ban vs a targeted one. While the law can not be used as precedent, the evidence from nearly a century of business in the state with the highest GDP is a good starting point.

Difficult doesn't mean impossible. Trillions and trillions of chances for mutations to happen may lead to resistance over some period of time. Hopefully not, but evolution is a powerful beast.

That is generally how utilities work. More demand == more money, which leads to more power plants / wind / solar to power it. Renewables are the cheapest to add by far, so should be the majority of new generation capacity.
