Trick: edit yuor /etc/hosts file and add a domain name. Self sign a certificate and add it to your trusted certificate list. Or - use https://pinggy.io

There is also https://pinggy.io which is even simpler to use. Just paste one command like ssh -p 443 -R0:localhost:8000 qr@a.pinggy.io

For simple problems use simple tools. I believe the simplest tunneling tool out there is https://pinggy.io . Tailscale is for a different use case. Not just exposing one port to the interenet.

I would not say useless. But blockchain has very limited use outside cryptocurrencies. Although, some of the innovations that happened around blockchains are useful in many other scenarios. P.S. I do have a Ph.D. in trying to fit blockchain

Do you mean ngrok's killer feature? In that case, other services also provide similar options. Such as localxpose or https://pinggy.io/

I don't think anything is more secure as such than ngrok. You can use TLS tunnels to end-to-end encrypt the requests. But I do not think your organization's IT will allow that either. You can still check out https://pin
