Right, I'm off to find some fruits and vegetables! Or do I get enough antioxidants as a tea-drinker? I'm conflicted because I know I don't get enough fruit in my diet, but the recommended daily amount of fruit seems difficult to get in the

I have no idea how you got that conclusion from my comment. My point was that the academic attitude about expertise is pompous. I've worked with several academics and research labs trying to turn their research into startups, and you would

Australia is not the Saudia Arabia of high grade (Anthracite) coal. The United States has triple the amount of proven high grade coal reserves and is also a larger coal producer than Australia. Don't get me wrong, Australia has a lot of coa

Remember, entrepreneurs: this is how academics think. And this is the attitude that makes begging for money via grants a lot more appealing than entrepreneurship. It's "give me money to do this because I'm an expert in it" instead of "make

That's actually a tough one! There are a lot of books about scalability (such as the O'Reilly ones, which I've read), but they don't really tell you what you probably need to know right now. Mostly it's technology dependent...read up on cac

I thought this was going to be about how effective recruitment by Biology programs is responsible for reducing the female enrollment in CS programs. Instead it just tells us what we already know.

My apologies. The model is the Z21, not Z14. A letter (or two) followed by digits denoting the series iteration is Sony's standard naming convention. If you google "VAIO S360" or "VAIO Z12" you'll find exactly what you want. But, if you're

How on earth can types catches be worse than untyped catches? As a Pythonista, this whole argument makes my head hurt. He's railing against everything considered beautiful about exception handling in the Python community.

Sony does iterate...the article is just ignorant. It used three different laptop lines to prove that Sony doesn't iterate. Walkman, Discman, PS controller and even the Z series laptop this talks about all were extensively iterated products.

Wow, what an ignorant article. I own the previous version of this (Sony does iterate...this is the 4th iteration of the Z series), and I absolutely love it. I can't speak about the new version, but the version I have has a fantastic keybo

This makes me so happy. Those of us developing on Chrome 16 have been suffering through a storm of event.layerX/Y deprecation warnings. This new release fixes the issue and I can confirm the fix works like a charm.

With all due respect to Hank Williams, the police misbehavior in the Mountain View area does not just affect black people. I'm white and I was stopped, without provocation, in a strip mall in Mountain View on suspicion of being a shoplifter

Is organizing your bookshelf in iBooks shit work? After reading the article, I'm sure the author would classify it as such. But Apple is smart enough to figure this stuff out. In fact, they're experts at it. What's Apple's reasoning?

I think you're not considering that some businesses regularly use the API to spin up new nodes and then shut them down to handle shifting load. I wouldn't know if a node didn't delete until I got billed for it.

Can you imagine what would happen if linode failed on deleting nodes? Nobody would trust them with their business. I suspect that the cancellation process is much more untested.
