I think the prevalence of recursion might be attributable to mathematics. A lot of mathematical analysis of algorithms is more natural to express in terms of recursion (partially because of proof by induction), so you often see algorithms s

I actually like QGIS more than ArcGIS. It's not without some rough edges, but I found it way easier to use than ArcGIS (which is a bit of a UI disaster, IMO).

"High temperature" is relative, they still have to be cryogenically cooled to temperatures around -100C. So no SMD superconductors yet.

Indeed, I suspect it has to do with manufacturer's wanting control over prices and supply. E.g. a manufacturer thinks they can charge a higher base price in China because they are a luxury foreign brand.

You'd use a laboratory test source. It appears to be a miniaturized radiation detector, which trips when the gamma and/or neutron fluence exceeds a certain level. "Nuclear event detector" does not necessarily mean anythi

Honestly, farming is probably the place where IoT makes the most sense. Especially for very environmentally sensitive processes like winemaking, large sensor networks and data analytics offer a lot of value to the farmer.

There are some editor plugins that do something like this. I know for Vim there is tex-conceal ( https://github.com/KeitaNakamura/tex-conceal.vim ), which collapses a lot of LaTeX symbols to their Unicode equivalent on l

There's a lot to the question of morality. Can an AI exercise the same moral judgement a human would make, or is it just an imperfect copy doomed to eventually commit an immoral act? I think the latter is obviously true, given that hum
