This illustrates greatly why React got so popular. If you look at the React code, it's 99% "just" JavaScript and HTML. The only proprietary function is `useState`, and even the people who have never touched React probably und

My only criticism of Duolingo is the monetization. The ads on the free version are unbearable and makes me want to never use the app again. Also as soon as you stop using the app, they spam your inbox with emails every 2 days such as "

The chair of the FCC went live on Fox News, of all channels, to argue that ABC is alienating his audience. [1] You can't make this stuff up. [1] https://www.foxnews.com/media/fcc-chair-brendan-carr-defends...

I can tell you I said "man react is great!" quite a few times 10 years ago when I tried it for the first time, after years of jQuery, backbone.js and Angular 1. Nowadays I still think it's great, but there is obviously no sur

You mean 15 years ago? jQuery gives you a list of helpers to manually mutate the DOM and style. Angular1/React allows you to declare a variable and to mutate the DOM and style automatically when that variable changes. Takes 10x less li

That's so weird to me, SQL is the very first language they taught me in college 20 years ago, before even learning how to write a for loop in pseudo code. Nowadays it's still the language I use the most on a daily basis.

For me it's about productivity. I can code anything in react without opening the doc once, cause it's javascript and useState/useEffect. Zero pain points. I can focus 100% on delivering features. I can't comment on web c

TanStack Query is the best library in the entire frontend ecosystem IMO. I'm still using React Router tho (as a dumb SPA router, not the new "framework" features). I might take a look at TanStack Router one day.

If you don't need server rendering, I'd just recommend React without framework, and Vite [1] to run the app in dev and build the app in prod, then host the build (basically a HTML page with a JS file) on AWS S3 or similar static h
