I've heard professors argue that college as a physical location is only useful for meeting people, and the learning itself was not even relevant. I don't think this is a 1950s outlook.

The root of the problem of definition here is that there is no concrete definition of "middle class". Median income is related, but not required to be middle class. Besides, in San Francisco, making less than $59k per year is co

Well, if you include Windows 95/98/NT/ME/2000/... But I think it's a valid point. Windows 10's main contribution is an attempt to provide auto-updating operating system to reduce version skew. I have a lot

Middle class does not mean "median income". I don't know why anyone below is suggesting that. It's a range, between lower and upper. Someone can make $200k+ per year for a family of 5 and still be "middle class"

No, because copyright law doesn't care what the copyright date says, or even if you write it at all. As soon as you write something, you have the copyright to what you wrote. If it was challenged in court, he would likely easily be abl

I agree. I've seen this done and it was effective. Combined with requiring the request to be made in person, during office hours, it also got struggling students to actually attend the office hours (which often was otherwise empty, and

It's like you are arguing that you don't like that "game ai" is an industry term. It's what professionals call it.

I don't think that is a helpful distinction. In fact, most games use the techniques you will find in those books. To say it's not "real" is arbitrary and irrelevant.

Hey, let's not overstep and say that dictators are "morally right" to stop free speech. Legally right, perhaps, but come now, Western democracies would laugh at saying decorators keeping peace is "moral". In fact, t

I feel like there is a giant gaping hole of information, which is that visual novel games in Japan are cyoa style stories, and are very popular. The article here has a lot of words, but nothing much to say.

You missed the point then. Alpha beta pruning requires knowledge of the game rules. Neural network pruning doesn't. The advantage is that it's a general purpose technique.

Citation needed. Most governments that admitted to having a program, only admitted it after it had already been shut down. Very few countries if any, admit to having a bioweapon program, let alone one based on gene-edited bioweapons.

Bioweapons are 1) Cheaper 2) Harder to control 3) Less reliable than traditional arms. This makes them great weapons for poor countries who don't care about indiscriminate killing, but bad weapons for large countries that want precisio

Yes, he paid his friends. It's not clear if his friends paid the actors, but presumably they did (or else, they just enjoy spraying glitter all over their car/bed for fun). At the end of the day, the result was that he paid money

Once you acknowledge they were actors, you have to ask: Why was this person chosen to play that role? Why have your next door neighbor do it? You know the guy is tracking the GPS. Was it because your neighbor was black and you thought it wo
