I don't know how anyone can seriously discuss gun control, as it's an impossible and naive goal. A majority of the really public shootings are done using weapons legally acquired by persons with no prior history. If you want to stop that,

Wow, I really like this idea. It's a different way of using the technology, and the features of Twitter could actually make it quite easy to get into that workflow.

Really, it's watch someone build an app in 10 minutes, moving so fast and with such preparation that the timescale doesn't matter. I've watched so many instructional series on development recently; this was very weak on actual instruction,

Rings true... I definitely work best in 4-10 hour focused sessions, can easily do a weeks worth of work in one go. I can't always make those sessions happen though. Coding block? I guess I should write. [1] :) Around the time this was wri

I think most people would consider that cheating... You're hardly running your own email server, and still using Google. I actually miss running my own email domain, the privacy of it, not the actual administration. I stopped when I had g

Seems about even, or more expensive if you put it that way... However the grocery store doesn't automatically charge you if you decide not to buy a new Brita filter this month. It looks like this will be a successful Kickstarter, so bravo t

You're right.. It's not all that hard to scale, and on top of that a single server really can support a lot of users. I built the back-end for an app in the App Store with well over 100k downloads and tons of active users.. It runs on 2 se

What if they were all paying customers? You couldn't scale at all, even during the first week, so you shut it all down? There is something fishy here!

Bad is such a subjective word... Nothing bad about using typical HTTP get/post to run your app. Things don't have to conform to REST. Using PUT/DELETE won't make it any more secure.

Also... Stripe is easy enough! I've implemented it a couple of times, and it only takes a few hours. No way I'd pass up 2% to spare a few hours.

Oh, the old saying "Write once, run crappily everywhere." See the other comments already talking about it crashing or having weird behavior. It's something I've come to after many years of trying cross-platform apps that involve a GUI...

As soon as I see the words "cross-platform" on an IDE, I'm no longer interested. Looks really nice though, they did a good job with branding.

I use PIA for my VPN and like it very much. Lots of different places to connect to, runs fast enough to do torrents, no complaints here.

On the contrary, I prefer if an app brings a unique and purpose-built UI. For example, 'Clear' the to-do list app is quite amazing. 'Paper' by 53 is another incredible interface. 'Figure' by PropellerHead is another awesome example. Why d

It's this comment, by Amar Anand, that is from a former Facebook (now twitter) employee. http://blogmaverick.com/2012/11/19/what-i-really-think-about... Seeing all of the word choice and grammar mistakes by derrick503 made me cringe.

Here's the thing about that... The World does not have Americas interests as a priority. The World would love the US to have a weak, ineffectual leader. America should seriously consider why The World is so smitten.

Mapping is very hard, and he shipped it before it was ready. That was a pretty bad event for them; caused lot of negativity from users. I'm not surprised.

From what I read, there's a big concern about contaminating Mars with Earth-based bacterium. To ensure the drill would be useful after landing, they pre-set one of the drill bits. By doing that, they broke the sanitized enclosure, and the

Sure there are Sync versions, but you almost never want to use them. There's nothing wrong with his sentence. He did not enjoy the Node.JS callback style event loop. I love it.

Couldn't agree more. If you're going after the iPad, you have to compete on price. There's no way enough people will choose Surface over the iPad for the same amount. The bigger question, for me, is the pricing on the Pro model. While th
