Interesting they found a way to add a hidden risk variable to the launch, by sending it up on a day people are having to choose to not be with their families. Have a bad feeling about this :/

I'm trying to remember what satirical slash comic book guy style sites + examples like this there were to ridicule bitcoin.

Hilariously that is not the original purpose of "DevOps", and double hilariously, it is the direct opposite: that Dev and Ops (separate groups) should work together better: https://newrelic.com/blog/nerd-lif

It’s more than that. By it being on chain, it’s part of a permanent durable public ledger, meaning it can be consumed and verified now and in the future by any third party for any reason, without any orchestration, as long as that person ha

A bear case for Bitcoin in 120 years based on the single aspect of the loss of mining rewards. Legit funny!

This is a nice example of the tech consensus anti-web3 perspective. Of course, it openly claims everyone promoting web3 technologies are scam artists, that it is a ponzi scheme, and that nobody in the space has considered "DNS and AWS

I think the core point isn't about coherence, but tradeoffs. Some tests are not worth holding onto: ones that are slow, flaky, and test code that is of marginal importance. In those cases, the ideal tradeoff can be to delete the test.

Can you elaborate on the scaling issues you hit (and with which implementations?) I've used Janus + MediaSoup but not Jitsi before for WebRTC audio for web based multiplayer games.

No, the reason the worm hypothesis is good is because it would explain the clinical trials where it appears to be effective. (If there were no such trials, as you claim, the entire discussion about worms would be moot.)

The worm hypothesis is a hypothesis, and a good one. But it is a hypothesis. assuming good sounding hypotheses are true and running with it have been the root of a lot of problems in this pandemic.

the #1 advice I would give to a young engineer entering their career is to do everything they can to avoid becoming cynical. technology has cycles, but it also moves forward. it's a helix. most people who churn through a few cycles end

Boz is 50% right but would be 100% right if they ditched the business model that leads them to be incentivized into spying on people and feeding them misinformation they'll click on.

Why is this hard, and can’t just be written down somewhere as part of the engineering discipline? This aspect of systems in 2021 really shouldn’t be an “art.”

Creative effort is scarce, so the argument is about how to securitize it. It’s not artificial scarcity, it may just be a poor proxy method around the actual scarce resource.

A great theory but in practice in this specific case the legal system will be forced to capitulate. Either a country has to ban all crypto mining or not enforce GDPR on chain nodes. Seems obvious which way it will land in the long run.

Which claim? The meme that transaction throughput is inherently low in crypto is falsified via solana (as mentioned) or avalanche. Bitcoin will likely always be low TPS. Ethereum 2 maybe will eventually ship.

For many years now Bitcoin has been generally viewed by a large consensus to be a low throughput store of value, akin to digital gold. Many disagree with this ofc but it is a pretty mainstream view.

No, that is a necessary but insufficient condition to come up with Web3. Web3 also requires the concept put forward by Ethereum of having an instruction set one can pay to run on chain. That would have probably been thought up and deployed

Certainly. But if one is going to argue about the value proposition of Web3, it may not be insane to postulate that in the future a large % of the world will live under regimes where the ability to interact with others illegally will be a s

Even if nothing else pops out, it’s a huge error to point to illegal activity as some kind of bad, irrelevant use case. That smuggles in an assumption that lawbreakers are universally evil. There have been plenty of periods in history where
