A bug in a not even beta program makes it 'suck'?

If there is a single maintainer of the project, sure. If it's such a massively huge project like OpenJDK, then not really. You might also check how non-trivial it is to get a change into the Linux kernel.

That again assumes a project is looking to onboard contributors. I absolutely get that it was an unfortunate interaction from the email writer's perspective, and it's really unfortunate. But there are a lot of concerns/bureau

Where does oracle block contributions? This was more of an unfortunate lack of attention/prioritization. Don't assume malice where a simpler explanation exists.

I agree with you on principle. But at the same time (adding more shades of color), part of the reason why Nvidia remained closed source for longer was precisely because they were supporting all the same features on both windows and Linux, w

Well, amd drivers sucked a whole lot (fglrx anyone?) before AMD made them open-source. And on every other front it's the same, as basically every other manufacturer. There is no such thing as open hardware.

If we are being very pedantic, languages don't have "speed", only implementations do. Of course in the real life there are de facto implementations and language features give way to better/worse tradeoffs. With that out

There is no need to replace it, certain changes can be additive. Immich falls into that category - you can still just see/use them as ordinary files. It just makes finding/viewing/sharing/processing them easier on top .

I have given a try to data-star that is pretty similar to htmx, and it already had SSE support. (But I think it is a bit more complete solution to the problem - giving lightweight primitives for client-side interactivity) I think it's

The pixel 8 costs that much now . Give it a few years and check back on it later (when this feature actually drops) and the phone might end up being much more affordable. Nonetheless, I do agree with you that simply getting a used low-end

It's not "complex UI", it's what programs are generally used. It's gtk, qt, and a bunch of other cross-platform platforms all doing their own thing. They simply render (in a hardware-accelerated way) to a local buff

That's already here. Android has native terminal in the developer settings and it even has a Wayland graphical environment. I have run Weston with a desktop chromium inside, playing a youtube video with sound.

A 2-3 generation old pixel on the second hand marker is not expensive at all though. And you easily add a mouse/keyboard just fine to it.

I don't really get your first 2 paragraphs. We are talking about connecting remotely to another computer, you can't do much at the other end of a network call with a server allocated buffer - at most you can cache stuff there. But

For xeyes that works. It is absolutely an inferior and chatty protocol for any other application though, like try to watch a youtube video in chrome through it. X's network transparency was made at a time when we drawn two lines as UI,
