It's the tens of thousands, if not more, of these kind of abandoned internet connected computers that allow decades old viruses and trojans to still survive and send out probes all the time. It's a really fascinating phenomenon th

Weak. Very weak and over corporate level of ass covering. And it doesn't even come close to doing that. They should just let the EM of the team involved provide a public detailed response that I'm sure is floating around internall

There's a brief scene in Heavens River, book 4 of the Bobiverse series, where some characters spend some time with the equivalent of alien dolphins. The "dolphins" have a very limited language that main consists of names and

I kinda wish HN had a rule against submissions to sites with login walls related to news, articles, etc. Basically, content sites. It's constant these days and the only way to read the articles is via archival sites like this. My guess

Glad we agree on China at least. I highly disagree about Russia being a modern nuclear power. China and Israel are really the only countries that have the modern infrastructure required to maintain significant nuclear presences other than t

How is that "nice"? The fact that 3 years in we are still collaborating with Russia on the ISS and in other scientific programs is deeply disturbing. I get that the ISS is a special circumstance and a difficult knot to unravel. Th

I finally watched this within the last year. Blew me away. Although the movie came out only a couple of years before I was born, it feels so much like a "modern" movie. I think Invasion is an example of a big change in how movies

I built my first commercial LLM agent back in October/November last year. As a newcomer to the LLM space, every tutorial and youtube video was about using LangChain. But something about the project had that "bad code" smell a

Hey Google. Here's a really stupid idea. Knock it off. Your core search result product has gotten increasingly worse and less reliable over at least the last 5 years. YouTube's search results are nearly unusable. I can't imag

A lot of larger LLM's have been trained on millions of pages of html. They have the ability to understand raw html structure and extract content from them. I've been having some success with this using Mixtral 8x7B.

That's an interesting take. I've been experimenting with reducing the overall rendered html size to just structure and content and using the LLM to extract content from that. It works quite well. But I think your approach might be
