@miscPerson you had a very good reply I don’t know why it was downvoted.

Yeah I’m setting this up on Linode’s beta k8s product. Funny thing is that I know how to do mid-level server admin. Most of that comes from building and maintaining the servers for https://jsonip.com for years. iptables, nginx c

I’ll take a look. Thanks for the tip. Spent the last couple days going through one blog after another and pages of k8s docs where the directions seem to fall to “copy this command that downloads a script from github and then follow the next

I’m somewhat struggling through getting a service working on Kubernetes. So much configuration to go through. I’m trying to build a product, not be a systems engineer. It occurred to me that Kubernetes might really benefit from some kind of

I’m a real skeptic on this. I’ve had dogs my whole life and they just shit any which way they want. There have been no follow up studies that I can find to replicate this “experiment”. Searching around just finds lots of duplicate stories i

Highly recommend anyone considering buying/building a system with this chip to watch the LTT review. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1LaKH5etJoE&t=0s It’s a mostly positive review but brings up some caveats for consi

Not really. My test is my handle “geuis”. It’s always autocorrected to “genius”. Google and Bing at least have the “did you mean geuis” link. Lycos doesn’t.

I’m still happily using my 6s. What I’m unhappy about is that iOS 13 broke a few things in Safari that have affected its stability. Double-tap to zoom is incredibly unreliable now and it worked perfectly for years. There’s some weird cachin

Somewhat personally funny story. Some number of years ago I saw a huge traffic spike on https://jsonip.com . After investigating, I saw that someone who seemed to have a misconfigured squid proxy that wasn’t valid IP data was hit

Interesting article. In my dad's side of the family, we seem to have an interesting inherited trait. We don't really have any balding, but the men (including me) go grey very early in life. I'm turning 40 in a couple of days

Right but I think in terms of interstellar colonization there can’t really be a concept of an outpost how we think of say bases in Antarctica or the ISS. If you’re sending people to another star system, it has to be a minimum viable colony

I run https://jsonip.com on linode. I push about 5-6 terabytes of data outbound each month. Linode is a dream.

Just thinking off the cuff and channeling a bit of Isaac Arthur here. Coming from the angle of a non-native intelligence colonizing Earth in the super distant past, there may not be many or any terrestrial remains over such a long span of t

I’ve been a Linode customer for at least a decade. Cheapest bandwidth I’ve been able to find anywhere and their data centers are super reliable.

You should add some more description around the problem this is solving. This could be useful to a lot of people that don’t know it could be (like me). What are your data sources? How often does a notification happen?

Generally speaking, if you’re launching a new project what are the downsides of posting to lots of these? Thinking about seo, wouldn’t Google downrank duplicate submissions across multiple disparate sites as spam? Would it be better to try

One thing I’ve been looking for is a reliable but simple iOS app that will send notifications when a launch is going to happen. Usually with an hour and t-5 minute warning I think would be best.
