TextMate 2 came out a while ago. It changed its name to "Sublime Text 2" and it is awesome.

Ah. If your target is people who aren't going to be reading docs, I don't think any DB is really preferable. :) Any more details about the project, or is it under wraps?

Good article. A few things: Use "if" and "present?" instead of "unless" and "blank?". It's much easier to parse mentally, especially for people who didn't write the code. :) You don't need to use "self" to access latitude, longitude, updat

There's a few National Institute of Health studies that back the calories in vs calories out argument. Keep your calorie intake below your BMR (basal metabolic rate) + what you burn during the day if you want to lose weight. Very simple.

I also see it "rebuilding font cache" on every fresh start. Is anyone else seeing that? Very annoying.

Is all this stuff supported in modern browsers? It would be great if it showed browser compatibility for whichever one is selected.

You might only need 1 in 10,000 ad views to result in a click to make money. It entirely depends upon what you're trying to get them to do/buy/sign up for on your site.

If you're having serious issues debugging Rails apps (or any app built on a major web framework), you are doing things horribly wrong . If you're just quasi-trolling/shitposting, please go back to Reddit.

Twitter's frontend is still all Ruby/Rails. The Ruby -> Java claim is common, but incorrect. (Source: I know multiple engineers in SF who work there.) A lot of their backend stuff is now Java, though.

Not sure about the Python ones, but the Ruby read/write file examples aren't quite fully done/correct here: # Equivalent of file_put_contents() in PHP # This could also be used for appending if the correct mode is specified. File.op

XFS rules at handling lots of little files. It also has a ridiculously high "files per directory" limit. Something like Redis might've been sweet, too, but would require you to hold all that data in ram.

Ruby is as slow as PHP (see: Debian Language Shootout), and Rails is even worse because you're operating at a ridiculous stack depth. MRI and YARV are horrible at doing GC on deep stacks.
