You can install graphene os on a phone using a USB cable and a web page.

Graphene is great but you will face many choices where you will just need to say no to something others consider normal. Or have a second normie phone to use as needed.

Maybe a basic note app does not require an account and subscription. Maybe it does not mandate an entire organization and marketing team to deal with security updates. The economy around marketing these types of basic apps is crazy. I think

Awesome story. Sometimes over enough time a little is enough.

Hmm. I think I get it and its certainly a goal you could get behind. I take it you basically oppose Ivan Illich's premise that modern medicine will never out smart death and fails to help people adapt to the truth of their mortality?

I suppose. But in a world where upset people then act irrationally up to and including doing some murder I wonder if we start mapping burnt out individuals to a higher "cost" than their lost spending. What for example is the objec

Would anyone here merge said code. At least example one would fail most commercial static scans like veracode etc even if the pr review was trash and allowed it.

Yup. Right now that's something running graphene for me. I'd prefer full linux but the other options don't seem viable yet to me. When I tried the pine phone a few years ago its battery life was in the 3-5 hours range if I us

I may be on the outside here but I am all for using the phone or any more mobile computer. Humans are not designed to sit at desks all day and having a good computer with me all day is something I want. Its just that I want it to read books

You are missing the part where the OS provider is the virus and keylogger. Unless of course you feel it reasonable that google and apple datamine everything you type via their software keyboard[0] or reading the contents of your notificatio

As someone not deeply involved in FOSS I am starting to get the absolutist mindset. I run graphene on my phone and this new restricted security patch limit by google is nothing short of a shit show.

I vaguely recall a childhood acquaintance who was from a shaker family and they had a computer. I'm very tempted to look them up and see their take on computing and ai. Thanks for the memory stir.

Would you be willing to outline this in more details. I feel like I am in the same boat but arrived at a different point. Are you building your tools as pwas that you run in Firefox? I've landed at porting my things to pure Emacs lisp

Are we surprised at this outcome? Most of HN encourages forming companies to find a niche in the world, build an arbitrage over it and charge rent. Payment processors and banks do that. Just like startup founders they then listen to the sta
