Wrong, the []byte is a pointer. There is no copy anywhere. That's why using []byte in encryption makes sense - you can wipe it out whenever you need, whereas string, the only immutable type in Go, would be a problem. Same can be done w

Try creating new AES cypher, you will see that you have to provide 16, 24 or 36 bytes in order to get AES-128, AES-192, or AES-256. There is no single [32]byte, for example, as the length cannot be inherently fixed due to this.

I thought Steam uses Proton. How many of these gaming layers are there? Also, it looks like yet another unnecessary fragmentation.

I heard Jonathan Blow say that the problem of Linux, or native gaming on Linux, is the gazillion of libraries of unimaginable number of versions. I find it funny that investing a ton of time(by now decades) and money into making a API layer

Legacy code and online documentation. Apache was THE web server for PHP. But it was getting slow, so new alternatives started to pop up. But the ecosystem of manuals, libraries and integrations never went away.

From what I rememebr it is a very inefficient way of doing it, FPS will be a problem and I think properly syncing sound, at least over longer than few seconds, might be even impossible. Either way, it makes very little sense on too many lev

With metadata endpoint, things become much easier, that is true. Though how would you implement it? Like, user comes to your website and wants to sign in with some foo.bar provider, do you force the user to paste in the domain where you go

I didn't say it was impossible, just impractical and that is why majority of services that use SSO only support google, apple, twitter or facebook. You write the code specific to these few providers once and are done with it for good.

Well the problem is simply user base. There is no point in being provider if you have 100 users. On the other hand, despite OIDC being standardised, there are way too many ways of implementing it. It is essentially impossible to have a &quo
