I can't speak for Cortana, but I have personal experience with Siri, Now, and Alexa. In terms of the actions that I do day-to-day (I would never ask for a dirty joke, for example, but I ask for the weather daily), I would rank them Now

A few credit card companies offered this in the mid-2000s (Providian and Citi, possibly more), but it seems to have fallen out of favor in the intervening time. I liked to have it as an option, so I'm glad it's making a comeback.

This actually doesn't seem to be the case. Take a look at Google Translate's offline voice recognition AND translation - it's really amazing, considering it's all happening on your device.

They actually discuss this in the article, including the concept of oracles, 'reputation', etc. See more at the referenced site[0] or the Youtube video[1]. [0] http://www.augur.net/ [1] https://www.yout

Or maybe not - the Grand Tour[1] was historically restricted a wealthy elite, after all. I guess it depends on the time scale of the perspective. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Tour

Is there any reason why this tool can/should only be used by European citizens? Presumably an easy-to-read and nicely formatted resume is something that would be helpful internationally.

One major caveat that I just recently discovered - purchases made through Amazon are only covered if they're actually sold by Amazon, not through a third-party reseller and fulfilled by Amazon. If you change your purchasing habits to c

There seems to be some speculation[1] that the performance increase from Maxwell to Pascal will be larger than usual. Given that 2016 is supposed to be the "year of VR", it makes (marketing) sense that the GPUs released this year

I agree 100%. I'm certain that the airlines have never considered the 'ethics of ticket pricing' when setting prices. Is haggling unethical? Is using coupons unethical? This article is nonsense.

Very exciting. As things like this become more well-defined, and start to solve the security/ease-of-use problem, I think (hope?) that we'll see some truly groundbreaking applications of distributed decision making tools.

I don't think looking at this as a replacement for the existing ballot system is the right way to look at it. For the kinds of elections that are currently conducted, the current ballot systems may be sufficient, and even preferable, a

I completely agree. To make this useful, perhaps you could set up some kind of saved preferences. For example, let's say I'm setting up a business trip. I like hotels that are within 1 mile of the conference center, and they have

Jesus, I thought we had it bad, but some of these other comments are making me rethink that. We're paying ~$640/mo for a $0 deductible, 0% coinsurance ACA Gold HMO, purchased off CoveredCalifornia. That's without any subsidie

The answer they were looking for was: Let the numbers be x, y, and z; x < y < z must be true. Their hypothesis was that most people would guess as you did (they mentioned 78% of people did so).
