And yet they work - there is quite a lot of them! It's in no-one's interest to destroy DNS root. Are you sure they all use anycast? I probably ought to check.

Crikey. Now I get the business model: I hire someone for say £5K/mo. They then spend $200/mo or is it a $1000/wk on Claude or whatevs. Profit!

The devil is in the details. I recently gave the "Veeam Intelligence" a spin. Veeam is a backup system spanning quite a lot of IT systems with a lot of options - it is quite complicated but it is also a bounded domain - the app do

I personally find that calling out something works best by being respectful. I specifically avoid starting off with: "I find it funny that ...". You seem to have an axe to grind and that is fine. Someone might have wronged you i

It is expressly forbidden to place test calls in the UK to 999. I could pretend to be a confused pensioner calling a taxi but that is not right and I can;t write that up. The generally accepted method is to subscribe to your TSP's eme

DNS is just a look up service. You can filter it or not but in the end it is just a "source of truth". What are you trying to do on your wifi?

If you think you can pontificate on DNS then I think you should be running your own service. Note how root "." just works and has done for decades - that's proper engineering and actually way more complicated than running 1.1

What is bloody annoying is that you can't even test 999. When you set up a PBX it would be nice to know that it would work via the obvious way of actually calling it. Surely it would be possible to create a test version which gets ter

We can't really decide what is going on right now, let alone get all whizzed up about how funky European history was doing in 1660. Why should a bunch of Londoners decide: "to start a club devoted to “improving Natural Knowledge.&

I'm not sure using a web of satellite borne clocks to do location to say three inches or 10cm accuracy is a great idea, especially when the "device" is moving at say 70mph. Not only that, you will need some amazingly exact m
