Where I come from 16% accuracy does not mean the problem is solved. Yeah, its a big step up from where we were, but the cat detector neural nets by no means solved the object recognition problem.

There's a very simple explanation. Ben Horowitz invested in them because he loves rap music. Perhaps these kids chose this specific niche (rap music lyrics) in order to target a name partner in a top VC firm. Not a bad strategy if you wan

Totally agree on Netflix. I would easily pay $25 a month for Netflix streaming if it had great content (e.g., same movies as the DVD by mail service + HBO)

I'm disappointed in the minimal amount of innovation we've seen in airplanes since the 70s. That's great that it is 20% more fuel efficient, but we're flying with basically the same tech that we did 40 years ago. Can Elon Musk please buil

Could have easily made the same criticism of Apple in the mid 90s. Microsoft can definitely be saved. You just have to fire Ballmer and put a visionary in charge. There are still some really good people working at Microsoft. Unfortunate

Anyone who invested in this company post-iPhone 4 and post-"co-CEO" RIM deserved to lose their money.

In government your budget is based on last years budget. If you don't spend it all then you get cut next year because, presumably, you don't need that much money. Agencies spend a ton of money at the end of the year just to spend the mone

Totally Agree. There are no names, only anecdotes and the science is suspect. This article is 100% B.S. and I wouldn't be surprised if it was planted by a competitor.

I agree. Marcelo is a moron for turning down this guy. Although we don't run the MS stack, my startup would kill to have a guy like this to join. It is completely laughable to me that this guy has to do a side project to prove he is worth

I loved speaker of the dead. Ender's Game was a quicker read and will make a more compelling movie, but Speaker is much deeper and compelling. You really have to grapple with the implications of first (and second) contact.

I agree. Austin is one of the most chill places in the world. As a matter of fact, the only thing people bitch about are all the self-centered Californians who moved to TX in order to escape high real estate prices.

There's a clear reason for the death of the spec. The NYT mentioned a few months ago, that software has improved the speed of calculations much more dramatically than hardware did. Is anyone surprised that the closed systems are winning!?
