The model now available to developers (in beta, not in released versions of iOS) is the same model that powers stuff like the much-maligned notification summaries from iOS 18. So your phone does have features that are powered by this stuf

Two incidents from two completely different providers in three weeks means that my personal experience with DNS is remarkably less stable recently than the last 20-ish years I've been using the Internet.

This was quite annoying for me, having only switched my DNS server to 1.1.1.1 approximately 3 weeks ago to get around my ISP having a DNS outage. Is reasonably stable DNS really so much to ask for these days?

I/O seems to be the big one. The M1 has Thunderbolt support, the A18 Pro does not. This would majorly limit the resolution of external displays this MacBook could drive, for example. And the base-model M1 was already pretty limited in

It doesn’t sound like they did? The author seems to be proactively not releasing out of respect for LocalThunk, not out of fear. (And certainly not because they’ve already been sent a takedown or anything.)

I’ve never played the original Animal Crossing, but this is neat! You’re basically hacking quality-of-life improvements into an old game running on original hardware.

What? You’d rather have more, smaller rando services handling your passwords than a few big names that have the resources to put into at least paying lip service to security?

It looks in the photo at the bottom like that the pips are painted on, not dug out. While that might bias things slightly, I'd expect that the amount of paint used is minimal.

Grocery stores everywhere have the ability to pull recalled products off their shelves pretty quickly. I did it fairly regularly at my first job as a shelf-stocker for a small local store in rural MO. Somehow we made it work, so clearly som

Being on-call forces the *desire* for the quality of software to improve. Shitty management can and will override that. We don't have time for QA or to waste an engineer adding monitoring, we gotta ship ship ship.
