Why not focus on the root cause instead of workarounds?

Local < 2 fertility rates are swamped by global > 2 rates. Overpopulation is a global problem affecting the US, same as global warming. The US is fast growing in population.

On that page I readily see significant differences between the two. I'd prefer The Deal Truck if it were in my area.

I reckon we're 20 years away from the overpopulation problem reaching the same level of media attention as the consequent global warming problem does now. The former is still a taboo topic. In the meantime expect things to get way wors

Japan's low-crime culture helps a lot to keep such density pleasant.

In the US, higher density goes hand in hand with higher homelessness and crime. I'd prefer more density than traditional suburbs, but if it's dense like a European town you'll have panhandlers and pawn shops all over.

Even more important given heavy gov't intervention driving house prices up 20+% annually in market markets. Renting for a few months can now do more harm than good overall.

I'm hopeful that Trulia won't get worse. I'd like to see the best of the two sites available in one site.

Redfin is pretty good but is in only select cities. IMO Trulia's interface is superior to Zillow's. One small example, on Trulia you can wrap around when cycling through pix. On Zillow you have to go backwards through all pix to g

In my state the only qualifications are that you paid the insurance for the last x months, and didn't quit or get fired for good reason.

Definitely not cheaper than no house payment. In NV for example there are thousands of homedebtors who haven't made a payment since 2008. They're effectively protected by state law until 2017.

Or keep the house and let the bank eat it until you get forced out, which could take many years. The bank took the risk too. Ideally (not reality unfortunately) it's a private deal between you and the bank, no taxpayer money involved.

A vehicle worth less than $10K, Mercedes or not, fine, keep it. The root beer, no sympathy! Don't buy it with food stamps.

Yep. Probably best to focus on the end user, who usually doesn't care about your underlying tech. WordPress, Facebook, Craigslist, all built with tech that isn't the latest and greatest, yet still successful.

The new features look promising. I'd also like to see UPDATE ... FROM. It's kludgy to achieve the equivalent of this in SQLite3.

Didn't know, thanks! Also didn't know that (from Dropbox help) "Your files are stored using 256-bit AES encryption". You have to trust them with the keys though.

Put only a backup copy (not the source file) into Dropbox or Tarsnap. Don't delete the file on either system. Same boat. Scripts can copy out from the Dropbox to both negate your issue and proliferate backup copies to many physical loc

How about Dropbox + TrueCrypt, except easier to automate and much cheaper beyond Dropbox's free tier, in exchange for taking the risk on a one-person business?
