Could be higher - multiple Scottish windfarms are fully curtailed (developers paid for generation but the grid can’t distribute so they don’t use the power). Once the grid is upgraded with Easter Green Link 1-5 & Western Link 2, and the

I guess I mean for apple to remain as apple, they would not do this due to company culture.

Why should Apple have done this? It doesn’t fit their business in anyway shape or form. Where does data centre hardware sit relative to electronics / humanities cross roads that is foundational for Apple?

If my Grandma had wheels she would be a bicycle. Apple would need to transition from being a consumer electronics company to being a B2B retailer for data centre hardware to take advantage of this. Obviously Siri from WWDC 2yrs ago was a di

They should be allowed to make money from their work. Their work is MIT licensed, if it goes south it is rescuable by the community. Things come and go, let’s not beat up some dudes who made some cool stuff, made everyone’s lives easier and

When I use Claude code to work on a hobby project it feels like doom scrolling… I can’t get my head around if the hobby is the making or the having, but fair to say I’ve felt quite dissatisfied at the end of my hobby sessions lately so lean

The only reason we can’t fly is that we don’t have wings. It’s a limitation created by our brains evolving to process 3D environments. If we were LLMs we have no 4D training data. A great example is the film Arrival.

To stop comparison to the old 12” 1 port MacBook? If you were to align the MacBook line with iPhone line logically this would be an ‘e’ class device, the Air would just become the MacBook, pro remains pro, and there would be a nice gap for

I agree that it isn’t as good as it was but compared to windows (with adds in the start menu, and two different settings menus for a decade as examples) it’s still better. More of a glass of warm cheap whiskey, than a glass of cool ice wate

I’m using a refurbed m4 Mac mini, connected to a unifi nas pro 8, super fun and straightforward. Feels like I only have to do the tinkering I want to do.

Another project that makes me want an equivalent for 2D or 3D CAD! CAD is missing a QGIS or Blender… Congrats to QGIS team, looking forward to native apple silicon support

Impressive that it made a c compiler though? Or do we judge all programmers by their documentation now?

This makes sense - they are demonstrating the capability of their core product by doing so? They dont make browsers, c compilers, they sell ai + dev tools.

Feels very negative! It costs 50% less than the air, in a time when everyone else’s prices are going up. The single core performance smokes a lot of high end intel chips.

Better chip = better performance per watt = longer batteries for similar levels of performance, running cooler. Also it never hurts the smoothness of the interface. It just ultimately makes it a nicer device to use.

Interesting, a cool resource for an API endpoint for AIS data so aisstream.io. Seems quite solid. Any one any idea of a good resource for satellite AIS data - I feel like the EU probably funded it and I can’t find anything on capricious etc

Super interesting to hear your experience, I agree that it is very dystopian. I have put up with it (with effect on my performance and somewhat my mental health), to be around my family more. Things like doing pick up and drop offs at schoo

I don’t think so, I think he would have thought Apple could deliver a better user experience (LLM Siri) and gone into it whole heartedly. My perspective is that Apple doesn’t hold off to see what the market is doing. They hold off until tec

100% would hate to see the current state of Siri, and then even worse that others are doing what Apple can’t. I agree that I don’t think he’d want slop, but I do think he would want Siri to be like ChatGPTs conversations, and he would have

I think that Claude can figure that out though - through the conversation Claude should figure out if this is an enterprise app, a hobby app or whatever, as it decides on how to code the thing.

Doesn’t Claude code do this by switching between edit mode and plan mode? FWIW I have had significant improvements by clearing context then implementing the plan. Seems like it stops Claude getting hung up on something.

I don’t get this, I’d rather talk about money upfront, I have a number I know I need to be at and I ask for at least that. Imagine spending the time and energy interviewing etc and then finding out that salary is far far below expectations?
