Let's say for discussion that we allow this curl| bash process because it is from a "safe" source. How do we come back next week and ensure some other process hasn't changed the files ? Package your files with a signed

When do you run into rate limiting for scaling up ? We all call it serverless but somewhere there are servers you are using and they dont magically appear from nowhere.

Our DBAs loved the DAL. There is a trend today to let developers run all over production doing what they want and it has direct impact on systems. The complexity of the modern stack is ridiculous. You run java containers inside docker conta

the nice way to do this is to pass the chef role to the user data template in the autoscale group vars { ROLE = "bastion" Then append this to the user_data.tpl file chef-client --audit-mode enabled -R -E ${chef_environment} -r

from my understanding you get the ability to put the DAL into a "pause" mode where it queues all the api requests allowing you do to updates / upgrades to the database with no downtime. It also gives you a way of controlling

Would have been nice to see what scale these people were running. Also, if they are only polling developers are these actually production loads ? Are the developers now doing operational tasks ?

Interesting... so you create a network and isolate it from the rest of the network ? How do your applications serve traffic ? Or... you create a network with namespaces and use iptables aka the firewall to network that to the other network

Curious... What is your setup ? AWS ? GCP ? ... managed k8s or you running it ? Outsourcing your operations and pretending the problem is cured by docker is just a bit silly.

And you think k8s is simple to run on bare metal ? To care and maintain ? Do you understand the kernel tuning and routing Google does to avoid the NAT hell you are going to run into when you manage k8s on your own ?
