From prior thread is there even "limits"? I thought the Anthropic statements were pointed out to be mostly toothless PR, e.g. "we don't agree", etc.

> The people who walk up and say "sudo make me a sandwich" do not. My personal beef is the human devs get "make me a sandwich", and the LLM superfans now suddenly know how to specify requirements. That's fine b

There's definitely tone deaf statements from managers/leaders like "AI will allow us to do more with less headcount!" As if the end worker is supposed to be excited about that, knuckleheads, lol.

Can we not trust degrees and work experience? That's 99% of doctors too? I mean this whole zero trust thing about people’s backgrounds is getting really fucking tiresome.

Well, I mean if we’re talking about "we don’t need engineers anymore" why not do that?

One of my LinkedIn connections is at a place where the leadership brags about how easy it is to prompt their features. I'm like: are you f-ing stupid?

Maybe, but why have (frankly not that intelligent/logical) PMs doing dev work vs the dev/eng types being the PMs with AI help?

Proud of my son as he's doing that without any prompting ( ba dump tish ). When I offered Claude pass, he said "I won't learn anything that way"

We are probably talking past each other but I am saying I see: Leaders thinking they will basically prompt out new revenue generating features with no human engineers to "figure it out". Not cost centers, low hanging fruit, etc.

Yes just not driven or owned by engineers. That's what I'm seeing from company and a few peer's companies. > but there does remain a degree of instability and non-determinism which will require human intervention to remed

You might be missing that a lot of companies are giddy that the mgmt can just vibe code stuff and there's no opportunity for engineers to be involved, (except for when it crashes?). I use AI tools and they are nice, but the mgmt are m

I "move rectangles on screen" to pay for Kids and House. That's what makes me happy, and jobs I enjoy don't. There's no wake up call necessary.

Honestly if you've bought (oh sorry "licensed") a movie, I'd have 0 problem torrenting what you've paid for vs dealing with these games. Companies just want forever subscriptions, not purchasing in any case.

You jest but I was flabbergasted when doing some AI backed feature that the fix was adding a "The result you send back MUST be accurate." to the already pretty clear prompt.

Writing the code has never been what has held companies back. A lot of companies will use the speed of AI to wallpaper over the fact that they don't know what to make or how to prioritize.
