Right, that's something that I'm actually sometimes missing on my NX500 when using vintage lenses, but I'm not sure how relevant it is for pro amateurs in general.

Samsung actually released multiple Android-based cameras: the Galaxy Camera range with built-in zoom lenses ( https://www.zisman.ca/blog/2013-01-05.html ) and the Galaxy NX with interchangeable lenses: https://

It seems like the consumer market was completely destroyed by smartphones, used by people who don't particularly care about image quality, and the professional market is people who do RAW shooting with image file sizes of 40..90MB, wit

The compact models are probably not competitive to modern smartphones, except if you need optical zoom. The NX series interchangeable lens cameras however don't fare too badly compared to today's models, and have a good price-poin

Samsung actually created such a monster. After a few zoom cameras running Android, they finally created the Samsung Galaxy NX, which was a mirrorless camera with a 20MP APS-C sensor and Android 4.2 (it was only slightly outdated on release

I agree with all of that, and that's an elaboration what the parent post said, but I still stand by my statement: the camera vendor apps are shitty because of that too, but they are also shitty because they are badly designed and coded

This is all true, but the camera vendors are adding insult to injury with their ugly half broken apps that mostly don't work on top of that.

The Samsung NX1 and NX500 running Linux can be pretty easily scripted to upload JPEGs or RAWs to any online service, given that you have a Wi-Fi network with you. Unfortunately they are a decade old and rare on the second hand market.

Especially regarding GPU acceleration... Running video-conferencing inside windows inside vbox is almost impossible, and even modestly complex GUI apps have a significant lag there.

The NX300 doesn't support running from external power, you only can charge the battery when off, or run from battery, even when plugged in. The NX500 can be used as a HDMI or network streaming camera, but I'm not sure which protoc

I always wanted to look into the Sony Android API, but I'm too heavily invested into Samsung NX right now. Do you know what functions are exposed? Can you actually write a custom camera app for time-lapses, modify exposure and WB, or i

The companion apps provided by ILC manufacturers are just horrible, broken, useless. I was really glad that I could hack the in-camera "send email" function of the Samsung NX500 to send the picture to a VPS which then forwards it

If complaining and asking for a refund doesn't yield a result, you will have a very hard time finding a lawyer to get this through the courts, given the rather marginal value of the content that you "purchased".
