Why? Using different Python versions is a solved problem and no containers are required for that.

I guess you are trolling, because a native app can print "hello world" in around 100 bytes. That's a difference of more than 6 orders of magnitude :')

Casting away constness in C++ is something it is virtually never done, and has to be done very explicitly.

GP is talking about the KDE project, not the entirety of GitHub. And yes, a monorepo is usually the best approach in most cases for a project or even an entire company.

Is is what happens when a CEO thinks everyone else is just under him/her, including their own clients. They start thinking they are beyond the normal people and that everything is a joke.

Functional languages are nowhere to be seen compared to the rest. Some subset of features inspired in them are used in some languages, but that has nothing to do with functional programming taking over.

If you need reliable support, you have to pay someone. It does not matter which project you are talking about.

Unity is not free. Instead of paying once or a fixed subscription, you have to pay a % of all your profits. Which, in many cases, is way worse than the alternative pricing model.

You are seeing the benefits of 144 Hz, not of VRR.

It is going to change. I use MiB and GiB. I also use the ISO standard for dates, etc. Precisely because they are now standard. Saying it is not going to change is what makes things harder.

No. VRR (GSync) does not do anything if your computer can achieve 144Hz (which for a text editor any computer should).

I haven't said you cannot notice. In fact, I said you can, in the right conditions.

> vsync is a latency killer VSync, if done properly, only adds less than a single frame of latency. That is 17ms tops for 60Hz, which nobody notices unless you are a pro-gamer on an FPS game. Certainly it does not matter for a pixel edit

I actually do not want swap, because I don't want paging to disk. Ever. Just let the process crash. I have been running swapless for two decades without any issue.

The point is that you don't have to trust anyone outside the source given by the official project you are downloading. The fact that you can't achieve the ideal does not mean we should claim defeat.

C++17 is a very close language to C18 if you avoid exceptions, classes and templates.

Doubtful. Apple hasn't provided proper drivers for years, way before 10.14. And regardless of GPU brand. Not only that, the cost of implementing a Metal frontend is trivial for NVIDIA.

Even for supported cards, Apple's drivers are broken. OpenGL support is a decade old and deprecated. No Vulkan support whatsoever. No Direct3D either. No CUDA even if you own an NVIDIA card. The only thing that works is Metal, on purpo

New languages are something sorely needed. However, has Vlang delivered on its promises? There were several heated discussions around that topic in HN.

3) Use C++17 with minimal features. This gives you a lot of needed libraries built-in and it is better supported than C99 (due to Windows).

Note that some compilers do the same at compile time by using profiling information.
